Title: Hairloss or paranoia?
Post by: Nygeel on May 28, 2013, 11:03:58 PM
I can't determine which it is. All of my siblings have hair, and a lot of it. My dad is in his mid-late 60s and has a very full head of hair. My oldest brother in his 40s also has a lot of hair, everybody does except for my mother. She's not bald, or anything but it's noticeable that her hair is thinning. I have no idea if I'm just scared about losing my hair and think that it's getting thin, or if it's actually getting thin. Maybe getting my hair straightened a few times in my teens wasn't such a great idea? I'm not sure. What do you think? Am I thinning, or just paranoid? And what the heck do you do to make up for it?

To me it does look a bit like your hair is thinning. I heard somewhere that your mom's genes are what influences balding, so maybe her family balds?

It looks like your hair is thinning in the center. Not sure what to tell you that will help because I'm certain you've heard everything about the different methods as I have.

Don't feel bad man. My hairline is receding at the temples. What am I doing? Starting a huge cap collection and hoping for the best, lol.

Yep. you're thinning my brother. I am too and just about in the same spot. I think that when it gets really bad, i will just Mr. clean that shat and call it a day. Alternatively you could also go for the Picard look.

I have an oddly misshaped head, so I'm fearing hairloss.

Looks like you're thinning. How to take care of it? Top hat. Definitely a top hat.

I hate to say it, but it looks like male pattern baldness to me.

I getcha on the head thing. My head is rather small, so I don't want to lose the "volume" that hair adds to it. So far, I've been lucky. I have a very noticeable male hairline, and my hair has thinned out a bit, but I don't appear to be balding just yet. Maybe when I'm older. But I think that most guys who do go bald start showing it by my age.

You might look into topical Rogaine, but I think it's only for thinning at the crown of the head. And I don't know what effect topical Rogaine has on your T. I do know that the finasteride pills can seriously mess with transition. Some of my effects slowed down--now that I'm off it, my beard has thickened and spread a bit, and the body hair is coming in more--but I was willing to risk that for a while until I decided what to do about my hair. I just needed to get used to the idea that I might be going bald. I wasn't planning to be on finasteride forever. Would you be willing to slow down your process if it means keeping your hair?

Well...I've heard that if you have a poor diet, you'll be more prone to hairloss. I've been working on some changes in my food and exercise, so hopefully that will prevent things from going further, or slow it down until I can think of something better. Right now my rate of change is so painstakingly slow, and I'm not at a point where I'm not misgendered. I'd be cool with something that slows changes a little further along.

I actually have a problem with hairloss totally unrelated to T because of my diet and depression. I did some research on it a while ago and I decided to start taking biotin (I think I don't get enough because I'm a vegetarian or something). Since taking it my hair has seemed to stop falling out. That might be worth looking into for you.

But I still stand by my previous comment regarding top hats.

I got pretty thick hair but it also thinner now, luckely because of my thick hair you dont really notice it.
yet I have changed my shampoo to a more hairfriendly one to take more care of my hair. I know if I would go bald I would either make hair transplantation threatments or buy a cap/hat for everyday life.

My hair started thinning like that before I started T. It was most likely related to hypothyroidism or some other hormone-related something something. After t the hairloss sped up, and I now rock the 8mm cut. Soon I'll have my father's hairstyle. Think of a blond version of the Doctor. No not that doctor.

This one.

I really don't think I'd look good with a chrome dome or a hair horse shoe shape. Might have to just cut it short. Just upsetting that my siblings have full heads of hair. Some of my cousins have that horse shoe shape, but most everybody has pretty thick hair. Pre T I had a lot of hair.

Maybe you could try a shorter cut with more texture and a shampoo for fine hair. Longer hair just tends to show the thinness off, imo.

I've been using my mom's volumizing shampoo and conditioner. I don't use it very often (I don't wash my hair daily).

Sorry bout your thinning hair, man. That's depressing. :( If it makes you feel any better I went to school with a guy who started balding in elementary school. xD

There are thickening shampoos and conditioners that help thicken the individual strands. It won't help your hair loss, but it will make your hair look fuller at least. Other than that I don't know what to suggest to you. I'm trying some stuff with my bf right now. If we find anything that works for him, I'll let you know.

Now I vaguely resemble Matt Lucas. Just had to look him up again. Now I have to say "Matt Lucas before the weight loss."
