Hey guys, most of you know my situation.
I had surgery and developed a hematoma (a pooling of clotted blood) As of now it is no longer continuing to grow, i had a dr examine it and he says it seems stable and we can wait for now, I have more antibiotics so it wont get infected.
For now, he thinks I will need surgery again, since the blood is clotted it cant be drained with a needle, it needs to be surgically removed.
Surgery will be 1,800, and I still have god knows how many bills I will be getting from the two ER's I went to (and they didn't drain it when it needed to be)
I am gonna see my Dr in two weeks and we are hoping that he can just drain it, if not I will have surgery. Until then I will have to wear my ace bandage.. >:( >:( (I HATE THIS)
I know I cannot use ice on my chest, my dr says its too late for that, but I have been reading that a warm compress can help a hematoma liquify. I cannot use ice, because it could damage my nipple graphs. Does anyone know if I can use heat on my chest, will it harm my nipples?
has anyone used mederma on their scars, how soon post op did you start.
Hey Elijah,
I went to Dr. Garramone about ten months ago. I started using scar reduction methods after my scars no longer had any scabbing. As for the warm compress, my recommendation is to ask Dr. Garramone. He will have a better answer than any of us will.
Good luck with everything. Your situation totally sucks and I feel terrible for you.
I don't know about Mederma, but my doctor gave me the "Okay" to use Scarguard at my 2 week follow up. I just went back Thursday (10 weeks) and he was fine with the fact that I was still using it and I can continue as long as I want. My best suggestion would be to ask the doctor. I know some doctors want you to wait a little longer and some let you start sooner. Also, some have preferred scar treatment methods for whatever specific reasons they have.
Thanks everyone.
I decided to not risk the warm compress
I did get some silicone strips for my incisions, I think I can start them now because G said I could start scar guard.

Does this mean your hematoma has healed itself? :)
well, it has been getting smaller everyday. I haven't looked at it this morning yet.
But yeah, its been getting smaller AND its been getting squishy rather then hard, so if it doesn't go down on its own, I am thinking that he can simply drain it rather then surgery.
Really excited about the silicone strips though, heard a lot of good things about them.
