Title: Did any of you guys have friends like this too?
Post by: bangarang on May 31, 2013, 05:37:53 PM
I'm a pre-everything closet transguy and one of my friends  (I haven't come out to her yet) keeps telling me I'm "literally a boy." She's right, of course, but it kind of weirds me out because she still views me as female. And she treats me like a guy too, although I don't think she's realized it yet. She's said that I was probably born with an intersex condition and my parents got my penis cut off when I was a baby.

Am I the only one who has/had friends like this? I like it, but it's starting to mess with my head. Apparently I'm so masculine that everyone already knows I'm a boy.

Well, it doesn't sound like she  views you as female.  It sounds like quite the opposite.  I'm out to most my friends and they were pretty understanding about it.  They didn't know until I told them, but they did think I was gay.  Still it really was no big deal.  Other friends may be different.  I had one friend cease contact with me after I came out.  He knew about my sexuality and wasn't surprised or upset with it. Yet, the gender aspect was too much for him.

Don't let it mess with your head.  It sounds like a good thing :)

Yes, there were a lot of people through my childhood and my teens who thought I was a girl. If/when the heard otherwise, I just confused the hell out of them because they couldn't see me otherwise :o

There was a boy too that I met at age 13 that knew but just couldn't reconcile my birth-certificate-sex with how he perceived ME. With homosexuality being such a taboo 50 years ago, his conflicting feelings caused him no end of consternation LOL! It was a very interesting relationship  ;D

I agree with learningtolive, it sure doesn't sound like your friend views you as a female. It sounds like your friend views you as the male that you truly are, which is definitely a good thing, I think, so don't let it mess with your head too much.

I'm bi-gender and have only told my best friend and my boyfriend, but even before I told them, both of them picked up on something. Mostly my best friend, though. I've known her for over 10 years and I remember, a few years ago, she commented on a picture of me telling me that I looked a lot like a guy in that picture and saying that she only said that because she knew I would take it as a compliment. And she was right, I was flattered, even though I hadn't even come quite to the conclusion that I was bi-gender at that time but only knew that I felt like a guy sometimes and liked feeling like a guy. And my boyfriend would comment on how he loved that I could be so feminine sometimes, but then also very masculine at other times.

Well, when I first arrived at my new job one of my new friends straight-up asked if I was gay... I'm guessing maybe he picked up on something (albeit the wrong thing) even back then. So maybe.

When I came out to a few people at work that have known me for 20 years they said they already knew it and was just waiting to see if I was going to do anything about it.  And I thought I hid everything pretty well ... guess not.  8)

That's what I heard from my sister after I left my home town and rumours got around about what happened to me! She said the most common comment was "Well it is about time!"  ;D

A girl once said to me, completely out of the blue, "you'd make a pretty girl."
I was like, "uhmmm, ok."
In my head I was thinking, "where the hell did that come from!?!?"
I was deep in the closet at the time or so I thought. I never did ask her why she said that and I've haven't seen her in years.

Hi Karin, welcome to Susan's Place! Thanks for joining us. Why don't you make a post over in the Introductions section so we can get to know you? Hugs, Devlyn

I've had people tell me I'm such a girl before. Really freaked me out too because I was being so careful about hiding everything. I don't know if it was just to tease me about some mannerism I missed or if it was kind of a whole concept thing though. I naturally thought the gig was up.

LOL ... I hope others have that reaction.  We'll see pretty soon I guess.

Roughly 30% said: "I knew it all along," 30% were in total disbelief and said something like: "but you were super macho," and the rest were pretty much said something like: :How come you want to be a girl?"

Now, when I asked my daughters if I was giving some signals before they were informed of my true gender, my youngest said: "I always knew because you were not like the other guys...you were like a woman"

I've had both boys and girls say this to me a few times while in school and also after I'd graduated, at the time I didn't appreciate it, but now that I'm getting old and ugly I'll take any compliment I can get  :D
