Title: I'm a guy, I can double cross legs, and other non-male traits
Post by: Agenda Dysphoria on June 01, 2013, 06:06:41 AM
So, as the title says, I'm a guy and I can double cross my legs! I read that double crossing your legs is supposed to be impossible or insanely difficult for guys, yet it's super easy for me! I don't stretch my legs or do any kind of stretching often at all, I'm just able to do this!

Since my very earliest memories I've wanted to be a girl, it's not so much that my life is torture or anything, but I've just always wanted to be a girl instead, perhaps the double crossing ability comes from this? I didn't get a lot of masculine features which I'm glad about. My index finger and ring finger are the same length when measured from the bottom crease, which I think is supposed to be a female trait (I'm not too sure about that)? My hips are also noticeably wider than my waist and I don't have nearly as much body hair as other guys I know. I'm wondering, maybe wanting to be the opposite sex makes you develop opposite sex features/stops development of the features of your own sex?

That's a very interesting theory? Either way it sounds like you lucked out in some good areas. I know many girls both trans and generic that would kill for hips.

I kinda doubt that, LOL.  ;)

"Wanting" < "hormones + genes"

But no matter what...you want to be a girl, you're in the right place (physically and internet'ly)! Welcome here!

That's pretty interesting actually, my face looks similar to the one in the middle, as I stated in my first post, my index and ring fingers are the same length, and the picture in the middle is of a face where this is the case I believe?

I don't know about the finger ratio theory too much, but I think that is something best to be ignored. The fact is there are lots of different trans women and they may not fit into that physical  description. Even if more transwomen have this trait, it doesn't really describe what makes us trans or if we are trans. Also, crossing your legs is something that everyone can do and it isn't difficult to accomplish.  Hip sizes can vary greatly between people of both genders.  For some reason, I've always had more feminine hips (imho).  Natural body hair is another thing that differs between transwomen just like it does with men.  Some are hairier than others.

Personally, I think the only real qualifier for one's identity is how they feel and how they seem themselves.  Physical traits don't really get to the meat of the matter.  While it's possible that trans women naturally inherit more feminine appearances, I'm pretty doubtful that has any real truth behind it. I've seen transwomen of all different shapes and sizes.

Just to add, the ratios for those images are 1.094, 0.984, and 0.874 respectively.

Being at 0.971 myself, I nevertheless find myself taking a lot more after the picture on the left, in particular when I look at old photos of myself as a kid.

No, it does not work that way.  If it did, there would be no need for SRS/GCS/GRS.

"Double crossed legs"

Looks to me it has to do with muscle mass in the hamstrings and quads.

Haha, I had never thought of this... just gave it a try and I can do it! Though I have to say that it gets much trickier with my left leg and I have to shift around a bit to get it to work...

On the subject of fingers, my index finger is a tad bit longer than my ring finger, really barely noticeable, I always thought they were the same size?

Welcome aboard!

...Interesting theory, but unfortunately, I doubt it.
Wanting something doesn't change genetics;
If it did, I wouldn't have boobs, or hips, and I'd have a penis...
So...As much as I wish that theory were plausible ^^;

I can, but it seems backwards to me. Girls have bigger thighs, doesn't it make double crossing the legs more difficult?

Regardless, this of all things doesn't make me feel girly, but I'm glad someone thinks it does.  ;)  ;D

Different hip joint angles?

re: "it doesn't make me feel girly...." It's easier for me if I'm laying down, like on a bed...with a partner...it does wonders for the many-faceted orgasms that we can have...

I think it because he is vary tall.  I am short with muscular legs and cant even cross them once!! Forget  about twice!

Humm yea.... I was somewhere inbetween the left and middle... no clue though really lol I haven't seen my childhood pics in a long time, I just always had a heart shape face, though on the other hand a kinda low hairline maybe? And my ratio is just over 1

I think the digit ratio stuff is interesting in a kind of medical curiosity way, even though it doesn't really apply to anyone's real life :)

I am not even gonna comment on the double crossing thing though lol, sorry but that seems really silly to me :P

me too. 1.03 ratio over here and somewhere between left and middle. sooo interesting! Thanks for posting that link :D

I can double cross my legs as well. It's not really a female trait so much as it is a feminine one, to be honest.

It's pretty cool though. Kind of comfortable.

I didn't think about that.  The female pelvic girdle is wider, and that would change the leg-crossing angle.

You are a scientist at heat, Beth Andrea!

Yeah that's not a good test really. If it's with bent legs like that then I've been able to do it since middle school and have do so every time I have felt like I was in trouble.  :D

This is somewhat fun what's the next test? I feel like I'm reading one of those quizzes in Cosmo or something but without girl next to me starting to take it too seriously.

It has to do with how skinny your legs are. I think sitting like that is feminine but being able to do it is not a female trait that men can't do. My thighs are way too fat to do it.

I was laying on the couch while I was reading this post and I tried double crossing and couldn't do it ... then I saw that it was while sitting down and so I tried and I could get it so my toes on my crossed foot can rub the front of my other ankle.

Anyway that was a run on sentence but I got another challenge... who can reach over their shoulder with one arm and reach around the side of their back and clasp the other hand.

I mean... there are people who CANNOT do this??? Seriously? I was able to do that since I was a child. I was also able to do the full lotus position (padmasana) - I can still do that now, but since I had managed to injure both of my ankles at various points of my life, it is not as comfortable as it used to be...

Sammy you would not believe how many people male and female who can't do that. I've been able to shake my own hands behind my back since age 8. At least here in the states that kind of stretching is not taught in our grade school physical eduction classes.

The only thing I found that I can't do is keep my legs straight, bend over and touch my toes or ankles. I can get as low as mid way down my shins so far but I am stretching every day before and after every workout. If you aren't bulky with muscles then there really isn't going to be anything that either gender can do that other cannot.

Hmmmmm my fingers are the same length but crossing my legs is not happening, my thighs are 28" with 14% body fat, almost to competition levels again, but even stretching my muscle mass prohibits the double leg cross. However,  after regular stretching and yoga I can cross my legs in a traditional feminine way :-)

Double crossing is OK for me. Lotus posture is difficult, but an age man once suggested that I may try it. Following his instruction, I found that I can do it, but it was not comfortable.

Also, when I view the palms of my hands my ring finger is about 1cm shorter than my index finger. I am not very hairy at all either. And my friend, james says I have a feminine face aswel. The digit ratio is theorized to correlate to the amount of testosterone exposure in the womb. It doesn't really have much to do with being trans at all. And the leg thing, I actually don't get that because if you had fat thighs (like a girl) this would actually be harder. I actually never, ever see anyone seated like this.

Don't take this the wrong way it's just that being trans has no physical manifestations.

For the love of all that's right in the world, can we please, please not have the digit ratio discussion again? Please?
The only way to stop it is to pin and lock it.

I can do it as well.
However I can't see the need or read instructions.
Will that change with E?

Curious

I've done it from day one of being Bethany. Not because, I feel I should, to look more female, but because it is something I have always wanted to do, but wouldn't as a man.

What I can't understand though is why 'old man' cross there legs. Just does not look right to me.

It is (and should always be) a female thing. The same as a guy sitting with his legs apart (is a male thing). If a female sat with her legs apart, it would look wrong...

I think it really is just a matter of having long, skinny legs - or at least skinny ones :)
