Title: Why has no one thought of this (re: binders)?
Post by: insideontheoutside on June 01, 2013, 08:24:31 PM
The more I use a binder, the more I am intimately aware of the problems of binders. Now that it's starting to warm up again, it's even worse. It's not a very good idea to just moosh two blobs of flesh to try to make them flat. In the heat it will just cause you to sweat like a pig. It's not very comfortable at all. And it doesn't give you a naturally shaped male chest at all. No matter how many times you push the flesh blobs up, gravity just tends to take its course then they're right back down where you don't want them. I'm not a fan of binding so tight that very little movement happens (I do like breathing and not compressing my ribcage).

In my opinion, Loveboat has a small part of the equation handled with the velcro mesh binder. Velcro makes it so you can adjust it to your comfort level (and makes it super easy to get on), and the mesh back at least makes it halfway tolerable. However, all the other problems are there and the front has double fabric on it making it 2x as hot.

What if there was a better option? Something that would compress, but separate and push up ... giving more of a pec look than a moob look? Granted this might not work if you've got huge moobs, but just the slight separation factor might be of benefit.

If it has to have 2 layers – one for the compression – can the other layer be a breathable mesh that whisks moisture away from you (like some of the high tech sports clothing)? Or what about a kind of a breathable chest plate sort of thing. There's plenty of materials used in pro sports like padding, etc. that could be a very thin but molded piece in the front that would give the definition and prevent unimoob.

Just thinking out loud here, but there has to be some better way to make binders.

Maybe you should start making binders similar to that specification.

I was def, thinking about the chest-plate thing! i was going to try making some molds, casting them, and sticking them in my tri top to see what happens.

I don't even know where to start with it though. I've thought of modifying certain sports bras (this one looked interesting: http://www.esportsbra.com (http://www.esportsbra.com)) but those also give too much emphasis to the moobs (so not enough flattening). The "chest plate" sort of thing would need to be made from breathable type of materials. Like if one of these http://images2.revzilla.com/product_images/0017/1361/Dainese_Dainese_Thorax_Ladies_Chest_Protector_detail.jpg (http://images2.revzilla.com/product_images/0017/1361/Dainese_Dainese_Thorax_Ladies_Chest_Protector_detail.jpg) had a mold of a male chest rather than a female and the rest of it was thinner fabric. There would still have to be something underneath it all for separation and lifting. I've looked at costume type chest plates too but those are just cheap plastic and not breathable at all. There's just got to be something better than the standard smoosh technique.
