Title: Transgender student voted prom queen
Post by: bethany on June 02, 2013, 01:34:21 PM
Drawn toward dolls and daydreaming about being a princess, Cody Tubman says she has known since she was a little boy that she wanted to be a girl.

As a freshman in high school, Tubman began dressing and living as a girl, and after waging an energetic word-of-mouth campaign, the Middleboro High School senior was voted prom queen this week.

Tubman, 18, who will graduate Saturday, is the school's first transgender student to become prom queen.

In an interview Thursday, Tubman said she felt she had a good chance of winning, but was still surprised when it was announced at the dance on Tuesday night.

Heartwarming story. Gives me hope. Thanks for posting it, Bethany.

Though I wish the newspapers would drop the whole "always knew" mythology.
