Title: Anyone tried Kinesio Tape?
Post by: insideontheoutside on June 02, 2013, 10:46:22 PM
Anyone tried creatively binding with this stuff? I'm not talking using a piece all the way around you but using the tape to just tape down the blobs.

If you are a member of the ftm livejournal community, search the tag "binders-making your own" and you can see pics of one guy's results with the tape. It'll be the second post from the top. He was happy with it. I remember at least one other post about it, and that guy was happy with the tape too.

I joined the FTM group there but when searching I couldn't find anything.

In fact, according to google the only thing out there that has anything to do with kinesio tape and FTM or binding is this very thread. Using livejournal or LJ in a google search doesn't glean anything.

You have to be a member and logged into your account because most of the posts there are restricted to members only.

This is like one of those calls to Dell computers... 'Is it plugged in? Have you tried turning it on?'

I am a member. I am logged in. I am unable to find any info you're talking about. The second to top post is something about 'pain on the left side' and kidney stuff.

Hmm interesting. Do tvc15 do you have any tips/advice on using the tape? I think I'm most interested in it because the tape is made to help muscles, doesn't restrict movement and improves lymph flow (all things that binders have a tendency to do in one way or another), but I'd like to hear from others who have used it if there's a "right" way to put it on for the desired effect.

Also I don't have personal advice, I was going to try it once but now it's something I don't have to worry about.

I attempted it pre surgery one summer and found that it wasn't very comfortable or effective, no matter how many times I tried to adjust. I had a larger chest, though, which could account for the lack of results. If your chest is on the smaller end, it might work, but I'd not recommend the method. If you're looking for a good DIY binder tutorial, I know a few people who have had success with this one here: http://marvinuniverse.tumblr.com/post/34631541789/tutorial-chest-binder (http://marvinuniverse.tumblr.com/post/34631541789/tutorial-chest-binder)
