This editorial discusses how the same-sex marriage bill did not make it through the Illinois House even though it appeared at though it would pass since there was a democratic majority. Despite the majority of African-Americans identifying as Democrats, and a large percentage of them identifying as liberal, same-sex marriage is not widely supported which can be a result of the role of the Black church.
