My doc said last month's levels were 814 for testosterone and 30 for estradiol. He said those were great. Is estradiol basically estrogen?
What were your levels?
My doctor also advised I do intramuscular shots now instead of subcutaneous, he said I might be seeing more changes that way, because mine are very slow.
Estradiol is the form of estrogen that everyone means when they refer to the hormone, so yes. I'm pre-T so I don't count in this but my level was 47.28 last they checked which is just sad. No idea on estradiol, probably something equally puny.
My T level is 835 and I do intra muscular shots .... My doctor hasn't checked my estrogen levels since the beginning. I am having slow results too ... I am having a hysto in a couple days and we are going to see if that helps with results
Last time I had labs done was March and my T was low. 295 total and 10.2 free. I've had a hysto so they didn't check my estrogen levels.
I was only on shots every ten days then so my doc increased it to every week. We also think it was low because my needles were too short and I was basically doing subq in my butt, lol. My Endo doesn't require regular lab work but I want to get it done regardless in the next few months for myself.
Since my increase in dose schedule and since I've had longer needles my changes have been a lot faster.
Simon, what length needles were you using before? I ask that because my bloodwork from last month showed my T at 24 (240 in american standards). Which is really really sad. My doctor and I have been using 25g, 1inch for the injections. Last week I had my doc's assistant taking care of me, and she said that the needle length wouldn't be the problem, as I had expressed maybe thats why the level is so low.
I'm hoping to have my dose increased when I see my doc in the morning. Almost 8 months, and next to nothing has happened still. This whole time, my T hasn't gone above 30 (300) that I'm aware of -_-

I was using 21G 1 inch. Now I'm using 21G 1.5 inch. I can tell a difference in how I feel and see more results (a lot more thigh, arm, and hand hair) lately.
I'm super anxious to get my lab test done in July. My original number was 45 and I read the male range should be close to 800-900. I'm dying to know how injecting has affected me. I'm a science nerd, so seeing all the mumbojumbo on my lab report geeks me out.

I've always been worried about if I'll have to start injecting, but knowing that the needles are so small is a bit of a relief, I thought they'd be at least 20g and a lot longer. I'm still worried, but it eases my nerves slightly. ^^;
I think I'm going to be calling this week to set up an initial appointment, where hopefully I can get my levels tested. I'm very curious as to what they are naturally.

It's rare that anyone uses anything larger than a 21G to inject. I use an 18G to draw with and I don't see how Jared lets someone stick him with that. Those things are huge. A lot of guys use 23 or 25 gauge and they're not bad at all. As far as length you could probably get away with using a 1 inch since you're a small guy.
Don't worry too much. I'm not going to lie, it's a mind screw to stick yourself the first time but after that it gets easier. Tomorrow I'll be doing my third self injection and I prefer doing it myself vs having my heavy handed gf do it, lol.
@Bearguy: Well hopefully the switch will help speed up your changes.
The last time I got my levels checked was 9 months ago. I'm due to get them checked again now. Anyway these were my levels back in October:
Total T: 757.8 Estradiol: 62.3
Hopefully my levels are just as good when I get them checked. Maybe even lower estradiol? :D Probably not.
Just got my levels checked for the first time in over a year... was over 1000 but is probably due to the fact that I went the day after my shot. So they had me go again today, half way through my shot cycle to get a more accurate reading. Have no idea what my estradiol level is.
