Title: On The Right Track !
Post by: Anatta on June 17, 2013, 05:44:57 PM
Kia Ora,

A slightly different take on an old thread (Poor old Fred is forever being dragged out) ;) ;D

Optimistic   = One who usually expects a favourable outcome

Pessimistic = A state of mind in which one anticipates undesirable outcomes

Realistic = Expressing an awareness of things as they really are

I'm an Optimistic Realist because...

I'm a Pessimistic Realist because...

So of these two what would best suit your attitude towards life...

"It's easy to wear a smile and be pleasant, when life flows along like some sweet song-But the [wo]man worthwhile is the one who can still wear a smile, when things in their life go all wrong !"

Kia Ora Jess,

::) Whatever floats your boat ( that is, if it hasn't already sunk)  ;) ;D

BTW I always borrow money from pessimistic friends, because they never expect it back  :eusa_whistle:

It ain't sunk yet sister, but I am learning really quick how to swim though. ;D

The good thing about being pestimistic is that I am never dissapointed. When I expect the worst to happen all the time and it does or doesn't, I am never let down. If I am hopeful of a good outcome and the worst happens, its a big time let down. In a lot of ways, to me anyway, Pessimism isn't really too awful bad.

Kia Ora,

It would seem you have a very optimistic approach to being a pessimist...Whilst Peky has the opposite ;)

I tend to say I'm a realistic pessimist. :D

When I'm about start doing something, I usually expect it to go wrong at some level. Well, most of the time I expect it to go totally wrong. This kinda thinking has two pros; firstly, if something does go wrong I won't be disappointed because I knew to expect it and secondly, if it works out and I succeed even in the slightest it's always a pleasant surprise! :D
