i went to a trans club a few nights ago and danced, for hours, like a girl. it was one of the funnest things I have ever done in my entire life. OMG!!!!!
just imagine twenty years of pent up girl energy finally coming out, if you will. it was so great. i did some moves i didn't even know i had. "Unhhhhh!"
i had absolutely no idea that being trans could be so much fun.
I have always danced like a girl, although I never did it much in public. Except for when I went to a death metal concert a couple of years ago. Talk about getting some weird looks. :D
I find dancing to be such a liberating experience.
For a girl who has always been overly self-concious to the point of being anxious in social situations of more than a few people, simply saying "screw it", getting up and just moving your body around to the music with reckless abandon, is just has this magical quality to it. Like a personal social catharsis of the highest order. It's something I don't do enough off of.
And now I suddenly feel like dancing ;D.

Dancing is good for the soul. I have enjoy dancing when I have been out as Alice. Nothing like dancing in heels to make you feet tired.

i think the public aspect has something to with what makes it so great. i mean, i like to dance in my room, but it's
nothing like dancing in a club.
I went into a normal dance club 5 months into HRT, nobody even blinked; that's validation. I've always danced like a girl, a crazed one at that >:D in public forever. Most guys are so afraid of moving on the dance floor, they dance in a pathetic way!!!

Yeah. like something you can give yourself over to, at about 100%. and you you feel like you're about 1,000% girl.

true. but, in my previous life, i was pathetic in a lot of ways; i saw it, and knew it and couldn't make any adjustment to it. now i can -- dance! sometimes in slow motion to fast songs, just to freak people out. jeez, it's so nice to have one's skin back.
yeah, i've always danced like a girl too. this guy i didn't even know told me at a club once "if you don't put your hands below your head, people are going to think you are either a girl or gay." GASP!!! uh, would that be so horrible? i usually went to gay dance clubs because you could dance however you wanted and noone paid any attention. i love dance music!
I dance like a rubber band. They used to call me rubber band when I danced. My style isn't masculine or feminine.... it is just totally loose ;)
Unless we are doing real dancing. I'll do the girl side but still lead my hubby. I make him look so good! His friends tell him he dances so well... truth be told, he is a total klutz on the floor.

You know, I just don't see the attraction. I honestly never have. I mean I understand the beauty freedom and fluidity of moving, but *shrug* my 'moving' involves a sword in paw or it is just not right. I dunno, different ethos perhaps, I really don't get it. Course, I think this has something to do with that 'dance' means these days. *shrug* Give me a fancy dress ball any day to any club scene...
Heh, I am so in the wrong time :P lol
But regardless, I am glad you girls are enjoying your dances though. Please say safe an sane now ya hear?
I think dancing is a great way of self-expression, on these rare ocassions I go to dance clubs or concerts I enjoy myself at the fullest :) I try to do some crazy moves and put all my being into it, as Megan said, there is something magical about it so you can forget everything, there is only music and you.
Once Bev demanded a fulltime life, she danced like crazy, and still does, making moves Michael never could. Marcy and I dance together a lot now.....kind of a celebration of female life.
Life is good,
as Bev
When I used to go out to dance I did what I called the "white boy shuffle" but I was the one out there with anywhere from one to three pretty ladies. :) After I could not pass for male, I did a variation of the shuffle but with a lot more motion going on with the upper body. Now, I do not go dancing.
I've often pogo-d at gigs, but that's some nice unisex dancing.
If you had fun dancing wait until the guys start asking to dance with you. that is when the real fun begins :)

I haven't danced in a long time (long story, don't ask why :P), so I guess it is time to dance, huh?
*giggling devilishly*

Hate to disappoint you girl, but you know how you're a woman?.....Same thing with the orientation. I know who I am ;)

Shoot, I'll have to try dancing like a girl. It has to be more fun than dancing like a man.
I have always felt un-comfortable when dancing.. as I am not a good dancer however I do love it no matter how bad I look.... It just seems when I go into straight clubs everyone looks at me wondering what the I am doing.....
Well done.... you shake it gurl..... :)
I love dancing. I'd do it all by myself if I had to.

I don't dance. My arms are so long that I think even attempting to do is something of a safety hazard. And then there's the whole thing about not being able to stay on beat.
I'll watch you dance it up though. Woo.

In guy-mode, I don't dance. I have one step that gets me through wedding receptions, and that's it.
A friend of mine told me about how different it is to dance in a skirt. I was a little skeptical, until I got dragged (literally -- I wasn't just protesting for fun) out onto the dance floor by another friend. I was in a dress that hit just about at the knees. WOW what a difference. I even did OK in moderate heels!
I still think I'm clunky and awkward, and while I did get some upper-body motion going, a true "girl-dance" would be much more fluid. But it was really FUN, and a *big* step for me.
I even went back out when they played "Man, I feel like a Woman" -- sort of the icing on the cake. :D
Regards!

That's also used in one of my favourite songs. God I loved the Longpigs.
I absolutely LOOOOOVE dancing. I'll dance by myself if I have to...and I do sometimes when I go out if noone is on the dance floor. It took me a long time to be able to though. Only within the past couple years have I broken through my shell enough to be outwardly passionate about things like dancing, and life in general. Once I started though, I couldn't stop. I get a lot of compliments too about my dancing so I must be doing something right ;)

Exactly, don't worry about what other people think. In my experience, people think more highly of a person that gets on the dance floor and may or may not dance too well than someone who sits in the corner. In the end, just live life and make the best of it.

Great band, they manage to do punk in a proper girly way - and still be punk.
