Title: Unexpected Acceptance
Post by: Arram on June 27, 2013, 09:06:25 AM
I really need to go to bed, but I just wanted to share this because I'm ridiculously excited.

I came out to my family last week via email, I needed to get all my words out in the order I wanted without interruption and I wanted them to have the time to think about it. I got two responses right away, my mom just asked if my partner and I are staying together; my oldest sister though, sent a scathing and rather cruel email. It hurt more than I'd like to admit, considering we aren't all that close, and I let it set the tone for what I expected from the remaining responses. I have never been more happy to be so utterly and completely wrong. My other sister and brother contacted me today and both gave essentially the same response: "I love you, we're family, I got your back, anything you need just ask." I was blown away. I was not expecting this.

On an amusing note, when my sister messaged me On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons was playing. I thought it was pretty fitting. x3

So! Uh, I'm pretty sure this goes here, but if I accidentally violated a rule or something, let me know?

Kinda mean of your oldest sister, great to know that your brother and other sister were supportive of you though :)

Thanks! I thought so, too.

As for my oldest sister, it's kind of expected. She has a history of overreacting and then apologizing. Doesn't change the fact that it hurt, but it does make it easier to get over and brush off.
