The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating the case of a transgender woman who was hospitalized after being stabbed up to 40 times. The attack occurred around 1 a.m. Friday, June 21, in the 3000 block of Stanton Road SE.
The attack happened in an abandoned house, where the victim was stabbed repeatedly, suffering injuries to her chest, back and hands, including at least one stab wound to her lungs, according to transgender activist Earline Budd, who interacted the victim through Budd's work at Transgender Health Empowerment, a local transgender services and advocacy agency. The victim was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, Md., where she remains in serious but stable condition.
Omg......
That left à awfull feelikg with me....
I am speechless....coz it can happen to anyone of us.
Notice how all these attacks happen around the middle of the night?
Girls don't stay out so late.
I think most of these trans women are sex workers which is why they are in these situations at such ungodly hours.

I would think most of us don't normally frequent abandoned houses at 1am. And I'm not convinced that her being trans was a contributing factor....
unless she was passing as a female, but when her pants came off, The Truth Was Revealed...and then the attack occurred. I don't know the situation, however.
Hope she heals up quickly.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced today that an arrest has been made in connection with the stabbing attack of a transgender woman in D.C.'s Fort Stanton neighborhood.
...
I went to school in DC, and I can say that I would barely want to go into SE during the day. It's not a very safe place. I can't imagine being there late at night. I think it's okay for us all to stay out late, provided that we know the neighborhood that we're in and that we are not alone.
@Maid – I think you're right. DC does have a sizable population of trans* sex workers.
I used to stay out partying till the sun came up
In Vancouver east side
I have never ever been assaikted for being trans...
Actually I was by my brother. .
But I kinda grew up early as a girl...I know the risks. .
It is still shocking the amount of violence to trans
Girls....in USA

40 times?!
Jeez! How the hell can you stab someone that much? I mean, once is bad enough but, wow....that's screwed up. Hopefully, they find the scumbag that did this.
It was a "rage" attack.
The first in the series of attacks occurred early June 21, when patrol officers responded to a stabbing in Southeast Washington. Police said a transgender woman told officers that she and an acquaintance had argued over $40 for sex.
According to Budd, however, the victim said she met the man to get a cigarette. She said a friend of the man spotted the two together and made an offensive comment about his being with a transgender woman. Budd said the victim thinks the man stabbed her to impress his friend.
Police said the victim, who has been released from the hospital, was stabbed 11 times, suffering a collapsed right lung and severed tendon in her left hand. Police have charged Michael McBride, 23, of Southeast with assault with intent to kill.http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/police-investigating-attacks-against-gay-and-transgender-victims/2013/06/28/85fa419a-df58-11e2-963a-72d740e88c12_story.html (http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/police-investigating-attacks-against-gay-and-transgender-victims/2013/06/28/85fa419a-df58-11e2-963a-72d740e88c12_story.html)
Even a sex-worker does not deserve to be stabbed. From the other hand, if You are into this business, personal safety and precautions should be Your No.1 priorities...
Abandoned house at 1 A.M., hell, no, not for me. Even in "male" mode I would be extremely cautious if I had to visit such place (and the only reason I see doing such trip would be an urge for urban exploration or geo-caching) and I would deff take some self-defense items "just in case" and maybe wear protective equipment too... Those places sometimes are full with drug-addicts or there are such unpleasanties as used syringes etc. High boots, kneepads as minimum, light vest preferrably... - of course, sadly, if You are a sex-worker, You are not wearing those...
