Title: Thunder, Perfect Mind
Post by: The Middle Way on June 09, 2007, 06:33:27 PM
Thunder, Perfect Mind

For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the whore and the holy one.
I am the wife and the virgin...
I am the barren one,
      and many are her sons...
I am the silence that is incomprehensible...
I am the the utterance of my name.

(it's an early Gnostic text, found at Nag Hammadi)

It sounds so very Hindu to me, like it's by the Kali (devourer of time), or at least Durga, one o' them Goddesses, but I guess the early Christians had not gotten the idea that 'strictly speaking, God gots to be a man', all the way worked out yet.

The text reminds me of this text

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way..."
