Title: Stagnation?
Post by: DanicaCarin on July 04, 2013, 01:34:19 PM
 :embarrassed:

Hey all,

Just wondering if you have experienced any periods of stagnation during your transition. Specifically, during the later stages of HRT? I am trying to lose weight, which I think is the key to me passing/feeling comfortable about going full time.

Any thoughts? Words of wisdom? Any help would be Awesome!

Dani.....

I'm about 1 year and 4 months into HRT...no stagnation yet.

I am losing weight, but only just renewed my efforts. I tried last year, but stress due to separation = negated my efforts. My current method is using the LiveStrong site, as it has a way to track one's weight, foods eaten, and breaks it down into carbs, etc. (And it's free).

I was walking a mile a day, but that stopped about a week ago due to illness...now I have to get back in the groove of things. I do have a gym membership, but have a really hard time actually going there (anxiety due to people).

If you want to lose weight...you can do it! Eat less, do more.

:)

During year 3 of HRT I've lost plenty of weight. A good 50 lbs. Unfortunately the same 10 I put on again and again. Other emotional factors are very much involved there like pleasure seeking via food or booze. All it takes is one day to gain 5 and two weeks to a month to loose it.

First words of wisdom: Losing weight has nothing to do with HRT. My weight control process:

1. Exercise frequently and regularly. 3x/week is a minimum.
2. Don't eat when you're not hungry.
3. Know what you're eating. Don't eat anything unless you know how many calories it has.
4. Ignore your weight. Just concern yourself with eating and living healthy.

Second words of wisdom: Don't allow artificial factors to hold you back from going full time. I.e. "I'm not going full time until HRT gives me ...", "I'm not going full time until I weight..."

You are a woman. That is the only requirement to live full time as one. All other requirements are set by you and can be removed by you. Don't worry whether you pass (I know many non-passing women who are very happy with their transitions, though if that's you in your avatar, passing may not be much of an issue). Don't worry about whether people will find you attractive. Very few women are movie stars, yet lots of women love themselves and their lives.

The woman within you sits patiently. Are you going to keep her waiting?

Thanks for the tips ladies! :)  I have been losing weight steadily. I just feel like by weighting for the weight to come off in a healthy way, that I am wasting time or something. :-\
