Activists in Florida are hoping to change the laws in FLorida to allow same-sex marriage after the recent Supreme Court ruling, and have been strategizing ways to achieve this. Groups are collecting signatures to put the issue on the 2014 ballot, urging state legislatures to add an equal-marriage amendment to the state Constitution, and filing lawsuits to get courts to invalidate Florida's ban.

"Brito [co-chairwoman of Equal Marriage Florida] said it's important to have a vote in 2014 to capitalize on the current momentum in favor of same-sex-marriage. About three in 10 Americans live in the 13 states and District of Columbia where same-sex marriage is legal. Another 29 states, including Florida, have bans in their state constitutions."
