Hi all,
I have one question, I'm on hormones almost 3 years and a few days ago I was with a group of 16 trans people and one of the girls said that we should take our hormones not with water but put them in the mouth and waiting until they melted down.
So I have a question, how do you girls take your pills?

Sublingual administration of pills bypasses the liver I think but makes a second pass trough the liver. Supposedly, it doesnt pass through the liver twice that way, but once, after it hits the blood stream. It is easier on the liver, in theory, but I wouldnt do that with AA pils if you have em, they wind up being perdy nasty I think, not sure. My spiro tastes like mint, but I'm not 100% sure if it can be sublingually taken. As for my Estro, its a once a week injection, so I cannot comment on it sublingually, but it may be safer on the liver? Not much help, but hope it helps a little. I would consult my dr. or endo before I changed the way I take my meds, though. :)

You can do it both ways. I am on Estrofem and it usually melts pretty fast in my mouth - like 2-3 minutes and its gone! If not, then I would see it down with a big gulp of water :)
Done that with estrace...
What about medroxyprogesterone?
Isnt Medroxyprogesterone simulair in form to EthinylEstradiol in potency? if so, not sure cuz that is a progesterone, but its pretty potent none the less. you can buy progesterone cream right from certain helth stores no problem and its as strong....and strong as it is...wouldnt sublingual administration be too potent considering? Just a thought, but I'm sure its possible...
I did the under-the-tongue thing for just over a month...although I felt better about taking it (estradiol) this way, I didn't notice any extraordinary effects.
I've just swallowed the pills since then, for almost a year. I'm happy with the results so far.
Thank you ALL for your replies!! <3
I will talk about that with my endo to be sure.
Take care girls!!
