Today was a landmark day in my transition for sure. Today I invited my mom over for lunch at my place. Just her and myself. ( my dad still doesn't know yet) I introduced her to her daughter for the first time! (me). I had come out to her a couple weeks ago. Given her some time to come to terms with things a little bit. I felt it was time to let my mom see for herself. She was visably nervous when I opened the door. We immidetialy sat down for lunch. I had already prepared our plates and everything. During lunch it was mostly just chit chat about this and that. Totally ignoring the fact that I am presenting as a female. A little awkward for sure. But I wanted to show her that I am the same person. That I am comfortable in my own skin this way. That this is who I am.
Honestly, my approach was everything that my mom needed. She even said as much when she was leaving. She told me that this visit was just what she needed. She had time to think about things. Time to grow anxious about what kind of woman I might be and look like. Seeing me, as myself, had put her mind at ease. She could tell I was the same person. She could tell I was confident in my convictions of who I am as a woman. She could also tell that I was just peacful, open, and honest. Needless to say this was a very good day for the both of us. I just thought I would share with you ladies a little bit of my good fortune.

Thanks for the replies ladies. Yes this was a HUGE load off of my mind. It is such a relief to have my mom there for me. I could see the anxiety falling away from her face the more we talked. It was really quite interesting to witness. I am just in awe of how lucky I have been to have the family I have. I really have been counting my blessings. I am not nieve to the luck that I have had thus far in transitioning. I hope it continues through the whole thing. I have some very tough roads ahead for sure. But know my mom is there to support me though it all just make my... soul happy. :D
