Title: how big is too big?
Post by: kariann330 on July 16, 2013, 08:26:21 PM
So at some point some people say a cup size is too big. In your opinion what size is that?

Personal opinion, A cup is flat chested, B cup is trying, C cup is a good start. D cup is almost there, DD is perfect...DDD gets to be too big.

If they don't go well enough with your hips then they're too big.

For me, A is nonexistent, B is passable, C is optimal, D (my mother's size) is over large, and DD+ are right out.

My "ideal" would be C's (I'm a B right now, and they are very....pleasant to behold...or is that, "to be holding"? LOL)

But I ain't complainin', and if I got D's or whatever, I ain't gonna complain then, neither. I GOTS TITTIES!!  ;D (Seriously, so many of us get nothing, or very little... :(...*hugs*...we shouldn't complain about having too much)

imho

I hope for B cup.  My mom has C and they look uncomfortable.

I'm probably somewhere between A and B right now. They get lost in a t-shirt. I think C-cups will be noticeable enough to help me be gendered correctly no matter what I'm wearing.

But I'm with Beth. Breasts are breasts and I'm thrilled to have what I've got.

I would think that depends on the band size...a 32C and a 46C are two very different sizes ( =weight + bulk)

I do not know as I am not at risk of being too big, but my ex used to complain about backaches.  My guess is when your back starts to hurt, or they are down to your ankles.  Lest we forget gravity.

Y so zerious?

I recall reading recently (http://www.livescience.com/28664-bras-make-breasts-sag.html) that bras actually contribute to the downward plunge known to happen...by not allowing the breasts to strengthen the ligaments (?) within, over time they sag. (Obviously if the breasts are severely "pendulous" then a bra is needed, just to prevent soreness from the great weight). But, for most girls, a bra doesn't actually help prevent sagging, it increases it.

I do not know for sure. Myself, I like how a bra feels when I'm wearing one, and it helps hide the nips when it's nipply outside.

It depends on the size of the person.  My wife is 5'1", a former gymnast and is 40DD – they are big (fun, but big ).  I'm 6'1", not particularly muscular but am also a 40DD – not so big.  Our breasts are also shaped differently, despite being the same size so I can't borrow her bras and she can't borrow mine.   However, I need support when I'm active and it's kind of a pain. But normal activity around the house is fine.  But hey, I LOVE these things....and so does she.  ;D ;D ;D

Now that I think about, if one has a big enough chest she would not get a black eye from a trampoline.  Believe me.  I have really thought about the physics behind my theory for pedagogical purposes only, of course.  Okay, have we completely derailed this thread now?

Yeah I know what ya mean. I have a full B smallish C but I wear a 34 B with only a tiny bit of overflow and I feel like they are pretty big.

What I want though is for them to round out more in the center and for the areola to increase in diameter. I've only been on HRT for 20 weeks too, so they have only just begun to grow. I def don't want to be a DD. NOOOO. I'll be more then happy with a full C.

It sucks for trans women because even if someone is like a 36 C or something the circumference and shape of a MAAB ribcage can make them appear kinda odd without a bra to lift and shape them. I heard that only 20 percent of trans women ever reach C cup and like 50 percent never get beyond a B cup and Tanner stage 3.

If you plan on doing anything that requires a lot of movement or physical activity I'd say anything above a large C is a little on the too much side. I mean I've just heard a lot of girls complaining about them getting in the way. Personally I think I'd be happy with a B, but granted I'm not very experienced with the whole measuring scale. x)

I'm probably between a B and C, since I can somewhat fill a C bra. However, they still feel very small, so it'll definitely be a while before I think they're actually "big."

Measuring can be tough for a trans gal as some of us, though not all, have a broader chest. The simplest way to do it is to measure your underbust for your band size. You use a cloth measuring tape and measure right under your boobs. This will be your band size. Make sure it is tight. Then measure over your bust. Don't measure tightly, however. Give it some slack. But measure over both nipples. If you have an odd number, round up or down to the nearest even number. A measurement of 37 will be either a 36 or 38. Use whichever is comfy.

Then subtract your band size from this number. This will be your cup size. For example, if you have a 36 underbust and a 38 inch bust, you will be a 36 B. An A cup will yield a one. Then a B cup will be a two inch difference between the two measurements and a C cup would be a three inch difference. So on and so forth.

Now, some women use an outdated and down right anachronistic system which is adding four inches to the band measurement or five if it is odd number. The reason this is no longer accurate is because when bra manufacturers started making bras back in the early 20th century the cloth they used wasn't very elastic. And they generally used underwire. Ouch! But now, the bra industry has been revolutionized and most, if not all, bras are made with very elastic fibers that stretch and aren't so rigid like bras of old. Because of this there is no need to add four inches.

I mean say you have a band size of 36 and a bust measurement of 38. That would mean you have a negative two cup size. You will literally have negative boobs. That is ridiculous. Not every women is blessed with big old boobs. Far from it. I mean I have a band size of 32/33 and a bust size of 36/37. That would mean I am a zero cup size. I would be flat. Trust me I am not. I have to bind my breasts to pass as a guy. And even then...anyhoo there may be a reason to add a an inch or two because we unfortunately are MAAB and have a slightly different shaped chest that is broad or sometimes with extruding lower ribs, so it may be necessay in some cases.

Just go with whatever is comfy. I am technically a C cup. A 34 C to be exact. But I wear a 34 B and it fits perfectly. Basically get the measurement and go and try out a couple sized and pick what fits. Generally, you will want to be able to fit your index finger through the shoulder straps but it should fit tightly and shouldn't be too loose. Not all bras are equal and just like jeans or slacks different brands will have different meeasuremnts. It isn't like buying icky guy jeans and you can just grab a pair of 30 x 30 jeans and all will be equal. Being a girl is tough this way because it forces you to shop and try stuff on. The horror, the horror. Shopping! I only want to go shopping like once a day and use a get in and never get out approach lol I LOVE SHOPPING!

I hope this helps. But remember you are still growing so don't buy like 10 bras. Only buy a couple as you will outgrow them if you are lucky. But nothing is better then finding a super cute bra. Well except for finding a totally cute top. Or even better some killer red skinny jeans or jeggings!!!!

Though build has more to do with it than height. I had big tits but they went with my large frame. My cousin has a tiny frame and her B cups are like a DD on her.
I'd venture that because of frame and ribcage a typical trans women can handle a larger than average cup size and may even prefer one for proportion.

Thank you everyone for the laughs....lets keep them coming....and btw talking about boobs bouncing on a trampoline isn't derailed in my opinion....but does sound rather painful if you get past a DD...i can only imagine how bad it would be for an ex who is a EE aka DDDD.

Title: Re: how big is too big?

I think it depends, as people have said, on frame size of the person and band size of the bra. I know a very very slender woman for whom a 34B looks big and I'd bet 34C would be huge... and another for whom 36DD looked about proportional.

Personally, the first time I tried on a C-cup bra and stuffed it just to see, it looked WAY too big. Joke's on me - I'm about a 42DDD now. And frankly, I'd be fine with stopping here! No backaches (yet), but buying bras is already getting to be a pain.

My wife is 36J and I don't think even she could hit herself in the eye with a boob, so no on the black eye. :)  She might be able to knock someone else unconscious, though.

I rarely envision myself with sweater puppies, strangely enough. Female, but no sweater puppies really. But really, some girls can pull off really, really big breasts, and I am not sure how they do it, yet for some as they get bigger, they just look peculiar. Maybe with my build, I'll pull off having barely anything! Oooor they'll get big, and I'll complain. Only the future will tell!  :D

Yeah, most women are very confused about their bra size, so why shouldn't you also be confused!  Join the club.

You really just have to take these charts and stuff as a starting point.  That is what my partner's mom tells me, and other experienced bra fitters will say the same thing.  There is SO much variation in breast shapes and sizes, coupled to so much variation in the design of bras, that a few simple measurements never tell the tale.  You just have to have an experienced fitter and try on a lot of bras.

Got interrupted before finished with my earlier reply to you, Zoe.

That table is from the Ewa Michalak company in Poland, which makes some nice lingerie.

The thing to look at in this table is NOT the numbers across the top.  Instead look at the cup volume down the left side.  Just consider, for example, the 6 inch column.  It ranges from a teeny 390 cubic centimeters up to a heavy 2640 cubic centimeters, almost 7 times greater!  And the weight goes as the volume, so you can imagine the weight difference.  Needless to say, most women are in the upper left of that table, but a significant number are in the lower left.  I am not going to tell you exactly where I am now, but I used to be in the upper left.  :o :)

vegie : I had a fitting done at Nordstrom's for free. No obligation to buy, either, but the bra I picked out was also only $60.

(They don't get to be $100/per until you're in the really unusual sizes - I can still get a Lane Bryant T-shirt bra in 42DDD for about $20 on sale. A regular Target or department store bra will be around $15-20 regular price, and then go on sale.)

I don't know, when looking at my...girls they just don't seem that big to me.

Hmm...I'm looking at your avatar, and The Girls look quite enticing!  ;)

I've noticed on mine that the perspective is different than when we were male, they don't look all that impressive...but then, we don't see the "underboob" and we don't see what other people see from 5' away. Trust the numbers! You look great!

I'm a C+ close to D and probably the only person here who feels that's small  :-\

I agree, i seriously want to be a DD if not larger....regardless of what anyone says....but being a bigger girl, 220lbs 5'8£ i can pull it off imho.

This might be a little TMI, but how many of you just love the way your soapy boobs feel in the shower?

That could almost go into the "Things I like about being a girl" thread ;)

Well, I don't know what this says about me, but I thought this thread was going to be about something else, lol.  Oh come on, you all thought it too!  Okay... I guess it was just me.

Anyway, I think it really depends on the person.  Some women are smaller sized and it either suits them well or it doesn't.  I think it depends on overall body size.  Yet, that doesn't really matter either.  We are all different. Personally, I wouldn't want anything bigger than a C cup.  I want a chest, but I don't want a huge rack either.

Yes, 'cept they get slippery. :/

And then there's the time there was a spider in the body wash and I didn't realize it until after I'd rubbed it on my breast...

For many years, I used to look UP at C cup bras, thinking, "big and nice," but now I have to agree with you -- that C/D is in the rearview mirror for me, lots more volume over the last 12 months.  Happy about it, too. :D

Okay, on topic but slightly newbish here. I get the bra sizes. I'm good but I won't start hormones for at least a month. I am also at 1/2 inch or less difference in band to bust size. So for a conference that I need attend in a month in half would a training bra be good and how would I know my size? Or should I just go right to a small A or AA?

With that small, Fruit Of The Loom sells a sports bra that has actual straps, but a solid sports bra style band. They are what i wear right now because they help get you used to the feeling of a bra, but are cheaper and more logical with the smaller measurements.

That is something I never had to get use to.. wearing a bra. I was very excited when my breast development required me to wear a bra. I did wear bras when I was still a crossdresser, but filling a bra with your own breast was a great feeling. I loved the feeling of the bra straps around me, after i put it on, I have been "forced" to wear a bra well over two years now and i still today love wearing a bra. I have always found bra's comfortable, only once a strapless bra hurt me and could not wait to get home so I could take it off, but that was caused by under wire poking me due to poor workmanship when the bra was made..  I only wear under wire bra's.

I wear a 36D bra, so a good bra is important. I don't get pains in my back, but always ensuring i have a good bra with good support helps. Even when I buy strappy shirts, I always buy ones that provide support for my breasts.

My breasts don't look to big on me, but are a nice size.. plus the cleavage is great.. I have gotten free drinks and discounts in shops before because of my girls.

Not sure if you can get a similar thing in the US, but I usually use these during the day: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sloggi-Sensual-Fresh-Womens-Top/dp/B003WDTJ7C/ (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sloggi-Sensual-Fresh-Womens-Top/dp/B003WDTJ7C/)
Doesn't require you to know your bra size, just your general upper body size for women's clothing, and will take up to a "C" cup it seems. When searching for similar products I would make sure that they have enough spandex though (16% in the case of the ones I use).

I have two cami bras like that from Bollovo. They're so comfy. They do kinda make you smaller cause they can be tight so it's something to watch for if you are not too big.

In my case that is intentional, as I use them to help hide stuff when presenting male (combined with a t-shirt tucked tight into my pants, essentially hides the lower curve, which is what tends to be the giveaway). :) I use a normal bra when I want to ... announce ... that something has changed. ;)

D+ is bad it means back problems(in most cases) and such so stop at C and save yourself an extra surgery :D

I"m hoping for a full C myself.  D would be nice too.  Anything beyond would be too much, but I wouldn't complain (:
