Title: Losing muscle by diet and cardio
Post by: dlee on July 17, 2013, 11:31:24 PM
I lost a good amount of muscle but I still have a lot of muscle in my upper body. My back is still very muscular and wide. How can I loose it naturally. I thought about becoming a vegetarian and doing tons of cardio. I did my research and I thought I would start long distance running because they stay so thin due to burning so many calories. What are your stories and how did you loose your muscle mass?

In a non technical way the muscles have turned into fat and you need to burn that away. Normally, in endurance events, you supply the energy with carbs but at some point, if you push yourself, you will need to burn fat and convert that into energy. Fat is not an effecient energy source, and you need to train to burn fat, as it not pleasant and in an event quite painful. Any endurance sports or higk rep in a gym should do that - just watch your food consumption also as the fat likes to replace itself. Good luck and happy training.

It's not going to happen overnight. Give it time, like a year.

Except You should be keeping in mind that doing lots of cardio will initially sort of "masculinise" Your appearance, because there will not fat left for the HRT to reposition and soften Your features up. I was doing this sort of exercises - 10km runs 4-5 times per week and kept wondering why my face gets more and more shallow and angular :P I took an intentional break for one week and went wild with my eating habits and now I have an A cup, and on top of that I cant complete those 10km without taking a pause or two anymore... (I have no idea if this is because I got out of shape a bit or this an effect of the HRT).
