Title: transitioning
Post by: kye92 on July 20, 2013, 07:26:34 PM
Hello,
I need some advice about transitioning. Although I recently came out to myself and my family and friends that I am transgender so am not currently pursuing HRT/surguries atm. I need some advice about social transitioning, etc.

I don't understand what you mean by social transitioning. Do you mean living as a woman but without HRT? If so, I don't have much advice. As far as medically and socially transitioning, the one thing I can say is people are so so so so much nicer to me it's getting to be almost absurd. It's really great and the world seems not so rough aroud the edges.

I know many people who socially transitioned without any medical intervention. If anyone tells you you can't/shouldn't, take that with a grain of salt. You're entitled to transition in whichever way is truest to yourself.

I did a lot of showing myself as a woman before I started hormones. I didn't pass well, but I didn't do everything possible, just the easy stuff. I used a wig, face makeup to cover beard shadow, breast forms, and conventional forms of hair removal.

Of course passing is NOT a requirement for transitioning. I know many women who don't pass but who nonetheless are very happy with their transitions. Don't let anyone tell you it's all about passing. It doesn't have to be.

Not sure what else you're looking for, Kye. Does this help?
