Kia Ora,
A 6.5 quake hit central NZ ( in and around the Wellington region,NZ capital) so far damaged buildings but no reported casualties ...The quakes started on Friday, with a 5.7, but this evening's one(according to two of my children) was a shaky one...

Well, sheep. :P
Hopefully no one was injured
I read about the series of earthquakes. Exciting, isn't it?!
For anyone who wants to read about the geologic setting, see here:

Kia Ora,
More footage from the quake and aftermath and hopefully the 6.5 quake is/was the biggest, and it will all start to die down... fingers crossed...

I doubt that many Wellingtonians got much sleep last night or the last couple of nights...
It's funny how the mind plays tricks- for some people every vibration(be it a heavy truck passing etc) evokes a sense of panic=fight or flight reaction...
First Christchurch now Wellington then Auckland ? They seem to be moving along the fault line...

Another big quake hit Wellington this afternoon (Friday 2.32PM NZ Time) 6.6 and since then there's been lots of aftershocks including two at 6.2 and 6.3...The 6.6 was felt as far north as Auckland(Nth Island) and Dunedin (South Island)...
