Title: question about doctor Brassard.
Post by: kariann330 on July 22, 2013, 11:20:01 AM
So i have herd rumors on other trans boards (like LPG) that he either won't or because of Canadian laws can't operate on US citizens and can only or will only operate on Canadians. Is this true? Im just wondering because numerous pages have him in the top 5 worlds best surgeons, and a couple have him as number 2 behind Supron.

Thanks
Kari

I don't know the official story on what he claims, but I do know 2 people who are U.S Citizens that did get their surgery done by him.   If he himself claims that, it wasn't the case in the past.  And yes, both people were happy with their results.

I can believe it, i have herd with both him and Supron, they are great doctors, when they have a good day tho, only God himself can make a better looking/functioning vagina.

Im just hoping he will operate on people from the US because my SO is scared to fly (im not) so having her with me in Thai Land will be hard.

Not true. He will operate on a US citizen.

I wouldn't worry about it.  I know personally know people who have gone to him and many other people online have claimed to have gone to him.  It would have had to have changed very recently which I doubt would have happened.  He may give priority to patients in Canada, I'm not sure, but he wouldn't or shouldn't deny you surgery because you are a U.S. citizen.

I've heard rumours of herds of ruminating quadrupeds grazing in SW England.

He also has no qualms operating on UK citizens. Trust me...

Doesn't really fit to the topic, but where can I find those rankings and is there any German or European surgeon?

Not terribly impartial, but it's here:

There is no real ranking as in surgeon x will without a doubt make a better vajayjay then surgeon y. That said there are ones with consistency in terms of aesthetics, (umm) function and aftercare.

Interesting that Pichet is on that list and yet has been frequently derided by people here.

A good time to remind everyone that standard libel rules apply when making public statements about medical providers or facilities. You are legally and personally responsible for your statements.

Thanks a lot. It' still a long way, but I like to know where it leads to.

I'm glad that there is a surgeon in Germany; a few in fact. I'll see analyses if they're good later in my "career" I think; this will most certainly be subject to changes.

What the heck?! No, add me to the list of US citizens he cheerfully operated on. :) And his info packet included passport and border crossing info, too. He does demand payment in Canadian currency (which isn't unreasonable), but that's the only limitation I'm aware of for a non-Canadian citizen.

I have a friend who went to him in May of this year, so it'd have to be a REALLY recent change.

I am soo glad there are pages like this to dispel those rumors.

So to the women who went to him, is he really as good as they say his....the whole close to godlike results?

Jeez, I wouldn't go so far as godlike... I'm quite content with the results, though; 5.5 inches of depth, orgasmic, self-lubricating, and results natural-looking enough that my gyn exam had the verdict that once the internal scarring smooths over it'll be indistinguishable from the homegrown version. (The external scars have already faded and vanished into hair.) Still, it's not like people would faint at the sight of its beauty. ;) I'm sure all the major surgeons can produce equally good results on a normal day.

It really comes down to who you trust. As someone already said there is no real rating on the doctors, it comes down to there results. I am only at little over the 3 month mark and do not feel it is ready to work my new parts out. (wink wink) But my husband is very pleased with what it looks like. Will see here real soon how it holds up? Just remember everyones results are different as in every cis is different. I am happy with my choice, i think experence is well worth its weight in gold.
Just a fyi I was also thinking of Dr Mc Ginn in phila. She was doing her residency at the time i had my top surgery done and i am happy with her work.

Reason im asking is because im still 50/50 between DR. B and Supron for SRS and am considering Rumer for FFS and possibly implants if needed

I was in Montréal this week and used the opportunity to get an appointment with Dr Brassard's partner, Dr Bélanger, meet other members of the staff and just get a look around
so that I had better idea of what I would be getting myself into if I chose to go with him. Actually it's them as Dr's Brassard and Bélanger operate together leading to a very short surgery, typically about 1.5 hours.
I also learned that the surgery is done under local anesthetic ( deep epidural) and another drug that puts you to sleep but without anaesthethizing  the whole body.
They had just reopened after summer vacation so there were no post-ops  in the residence but there were several ladies there for post-op visits who seemed to be in very good shape just about a month after their surgery.
Other than that, the whole operation is in a very pretty neighbourhood in Montréal with lot's of greenery and a nice little lake almost on the doorstep. I must say I far prefer the idea of the residence with both single and shared rooms to finding myself alone in a hotel somewhere just 3 or 4 days after discharge from the hospital. I came away very favorably impressed confirming me in the idea that Montréal would be one of my preferred options.
Last info worth mentioning, they typically operate 5 people on Mondays and 3 people on Thursdays and their schedule is generally full for 3 months ie. right now the earliest you could get a slot would be December.
Hugs
Donna

P.S. If I do go with Dr Brassard, I will be their first Irish woman, Yah!
