Title: I just saved some money on car insurance.
Post by: JennX on July 22, 2013, 09:44:36 PM
No joke... I really did.

I called my car insurance company to let them know of my legal name change... and after explaining things to the rep, updating my name, drivers license #, she asked if there was anything else to change, and I mentioned, yep... you can change my gender to female... She told me that she was glad I brought that up because she can save me some money. Apparently women are better drivers, and according to the statistical data tables they base their policy premium rates on, and since I'm postop and legally female, I'll save $100.00 per year. It won't pay for my trip to Fiji, but I'll take it. One of the few monetary perks of being female. Hopefully there are more undiscovered ones to come.

;D

That's awesome! I always thought women were better drivers I never got why guys think they are when most guys drive like maniacs and most accidents are caused by men.

Guess what ladies, my car insurance dropped after changing my name and gender.    Role reversal?

That's simple. According to stereotypes male persons tent do drive more aggressive and fast, while females drive more calm and steadily. But since about some 10s of years ago men didn't allow their wifes to drive often, they had no driving experience. And since we all know that experience makes success, it's fairly clear that women weren't able to be good drivers.

Nowadays women drive nearly as often as men and thus have equal driving experience. Thus and because of the stereotypes women are better drivers (=have fewer accidents).

In my opinion the stereotypes of men driving more aggressive and women driving more calm are true. Your mileage may vary.

I would definitely agree that women drive better than men in that they are safer, and less likely to do really stupid stuff. However, I also believe that women are more likely to be more distracted, be it cell phones, kids, conversation, hair, etc. Ive always been a safe drive, much to the chagrin of my male friends. They expect me to go faster and more daring I guess. I do occasionally catch myself checking out my hair in the rear view mirror sometimes though!

Ive been paranoid about whether or not im losing my hair for years, so ive become extremely narcissistic about how it looks, I can only imagine how much worse it will get when/if i start transitioning fully.
