I'm planning to see Dr Curtis in London after a couple more months of therapy sessions and I was wondering (anyone who has seen him before) what I would need to bring with me? I've read on his site but I just want to be thorough. I hear that if I've already had therapy then I won't need to do it with him, will I need my therapist to write me a letter of recommendation though? Would it be best to get a blood test done before I go to see him and bring that along too? And also is it best to go ahead and sort out deedpoll name change right away and take that in too? Since I was planning on doing the name changes when I start T, but if it's needed beforehand then I don't mind doing it asap either. Sorry if it's already been asked, tried to search for relevant questions/answers but I couldn't find any.
Any/all info you have on him would be much appreciated :)

Thanks, hmm I hope all the issues will be blown over by the time I make a visit if it hasn't already o.<
Hi Dees,
I'm personally currently under Dr. Curtis' care. I went to him without seeing any of these articles and there's a notice in his office stating that he has been forced to make allegations public but it does not effect his rights to prescribe hormones and referrals for surgery within guidelines. I would personally not hold back from these daily mail extravaganza articles. Every year Dr's across the UK have many complaints filed against them, it's just that this one has been made public and sensationalised.
Dr. Curtis has been brilliant. I would say however having read the allegations, by all means take your therapy history with you but perhaps wait until you've seen him to bring blood results at a second appointment, as he now may be slightly more hesitant to jump through hoops like that. Deedpoll is a good idea though, it won't hinder you by not having done it yet but I had mine done atleast a year before I was referred and he wanted a copy in the first appointment. It will also make future surgeries easier as you can provide evidence you have been living in role for as long as possible.
If you have any questions or I haven't answered anything please do say.
I'd say overall though he's brilliant.
Good luck!
Thanks :) and yeah I try not to take news articles to heart, if I'm honest I don't really see it as entirely his fault really. Thanks for the info that will help a lot with preparation, and I didn't consider deed poll "living as" proof til now so I think I will go ahead and get that done asap :)
Ta for the brill replies!
I am seeing him next Wednesday :D
That's brilliant! Would love to know how it goes ^^
He seems cool, real nice and understanding. Not judgy or anything, or demanding you do certain things to get treatment like Charing Cross, where some of the people were plain insulting. Gonna have my bloodwork done by next appointment and take him the results and when I have signed the consent for treatment forms and whatnot it appears I will be good to go. If there is anything specific you wanna know you can ask here or PM me.
That sounds awesome congrats man hope everything goes smooth for you :) I've recently applied for my deed poll so happy that's gonna be sorted, just need to see how I do financially this month before calling and booking an appointment now. Oh how long is the wait time to see Dr Curtis if there is one? Couple weeks or months? :) Ta
About a couple weeks I reckon, that is how long it took for me and I heard someone else phone and get a next appointment in about 2 weeks too. That is the best part about going private, skipping the queues.
