im too shy to call and ask so ill just ask here :P are we allowed to scuba dive binding? im thinking no :P but i just want to be sure before i try for my cert :)

I don't see why not?
I'm not sure it'd be a good idea or not, regardless if it were allowed by whoever is doing your cert. You're dealing with a few atmospheres of pressure and being able to draw in a good breath off your regulator is pretty darned important. You don't want anything to hamper that.
If you can play sport in a binder and not have your breathing strained then I'd say you could scuba dive in one.
Talk to a doctor if you're worried. It will save embarrassment.
Oh gee, now I don't know but it sounds like a really bad idea. On the plus side, you could, I don't know your size, wear a compression shirt (gc2 makes good ones) and a wet suit. I think they hide pretty much everything.

thats my thinking too :) i ended up growing a pair and calling the local scuba academy, the guy said it shouldnt be an issue if i kept to the first level of dive (to 18m) he said ultimately it would be up to my doctor who did the physical, that being said i was more curious if i'd have to wait until next july (when my surgery happens) and then longer for healing and what not, ive still got a little way to go to hit their BMI and waist measurement requirements anyway, which i was already working on for surgery - so it might just be in my best interest to wait until next summer :) i can always snorkel for this one :)
thanks for all the replies :)
