Title: Help with clothes and make up
Post by: TBoyLogan on July 27, 2013, 05:43:13 AM
My partner is MtF and needs some help with make up and clothes. She doesnt know where to start and neither do i!

She's an athletic build, about 6' 1" with handsome features. She used to be a competitive swimmer.

How do we flatter this rather extreme figure before hormones? We have some modest breast forms. She's a size 14 to 16.

Can anyone give me some links with examples or videos? I would very much appreciate it.

Peace

Logan

The two of you should probably visit the Beauty Forums https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,341.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,341.0.html)

Look around there and see if you can find what she needs.

some good tips I found by searching "how to dress an inverted triangle body shape"

For make-up, if she's courageous enough (well, seeing as she's going to dress up and all before HRT, she IS pretty courageous to begin with), she can go to an esthetician who offers make-up services and ask for a tutorial. If none of you knows anyone decent enough with make-up and teaching to do it, that can be quite a good move. Probably cheap, too.

I've found the online virtual makeover sites very helpful for determining my best looks from the neck up, anyway. Just a pictures, they tend to be kind of dorky but if you look past that, you can get a good idea of things like what the best hairstyle, haircolor and makeup colors might be for you. My fav is the celebrity one at InStyle.com, though I like a lot of the features of the one at Mary Kay, too. Here's some links: http://www.instyle.com/instyle/makeover/ (http://www.instyle.com/instyle/makeover/), http://www.marykay.com/whatsnew/virtualmakeover/default.aspx (http://www.marykay.com/whatsnew/virtualmakeover/default.aspx), http://www.taaz.com/makeover.html (http://www.taaz.com/makeover.html), http://makeover.dailymakeover.com/virtual-makeover/home (http://makeover.dailymakeover.com/virtual-makeover/home), http://www.covergirl.com/ (http://www.covergirl.com/).

As for clothes, there are a lot of tall and sturdily built women around who dress very well. There are a lot of things you can do, but one thing I've done is to pick a well photographed celebrity with similar proportions to you (not necessary similar in size). Search online for pics of them, especially those on the street. These people all have expert stylists choose their wardrobes, so we can benefit from secondhand from that expertise. For instance, I'm proportioned almost the same as Kelly Ripa, though I'm a good bit larger proportionally. She and I are both long waisted, but she never looks it because of careful wardrobe choices.
