Title: Remote Medical Supervision?
Post by: sushitime on July 28, 2013, 06:58:20 PM
I'm considering starting HRT in the near future, but I'd like to do it the "right" way. The problem is, there don't seem to be any qualified endocrinologists where I live. Is it possible to have blood work done and then send it to an endocrinologist remotely for evaluation? I searched but couldn't seem to find much of anything useful.

My endo lets me have labs done in the city I live in and have them faxed to her. You could probably do the same. I do have to go see her from time to time still.

Same here, my regular Doctor does my lab work and she sends it to the Doctor who's handling my hormones.  I only go see that Doctor every 3 months or so - and we may start extending that; we just started with some really low dosages and she's been upping them some every visit; but I think after this next visit they'll be about as high as we'll want to go so I probably will be able to see her less often.

Thanks for the advice; unfortunately I am not sure how realistic intercontinental flights every three months is. Hopefully I'll be able to find an endocrinologist who is happy to work somewhat closely with a doctor here.

If you don't mind me asking, Where are you located? That would make it easier to try to help you.

In south-east Asia. One would think there would be reasonable endocrinologists in Thailand, but I'm not sure if I trust them completely with my health

Pretty sure there are, especially in Bangkok, just go to the SRS surgeons, and have them give you some referrals to some endos, I'm pretty sure, they can guide you. I'd be surprised if they don't know of any.

My 2 cents.
