So.im wondering, can my doctor who is prescribing my psyche meds, basically kill 2 birds in one visit and prescribe my HRT as well?
My short answer is that they could. Who knows if they will.
My longer answer is that treatment is suppose to be dictated by the standards of care for transgender individuals. That being said after having the required letters from having therapy and whatnot you can have an endocrinologist prescribe you HRT. As for HRT treatment you need blood tests at different intervals of time.
Just an FYI, i hate the standards of care and was on HRT under informed consent thru my GP. I only asked because with being laid off, not having insurance and having limited cash flow i was asking to kill two birds with one stone at a doctor i see on a sliding scale based off my no income.
Legally yes but their scope of practice may exclude the necessary blood work (which is technically doable as a "prescription"). This is assuming you're referring to a psychiatrist and not something like a run of the mill general practitioner, physician assistant, ob/gyn, or nurse practitioner who orders basic blood labs regularly.
I was talking about my psychiatrist but when i asked him at my appointment yesterday he said no because of not having any experience with hrt, doses and monitoring of lab work.
