Most ftm tumbloggers are of the "->-bleeped-<-r-than-thou" variety. I would recommend googleing regular blogs, or youtube channels.

This.

F*** Yeah FTM's is ok and Art of Transliness is excellent. Neither of those are "->-bleeped-<-r than thou" blogs. I tend to avoid those.

True, there are a couple that're okay. I'm pretty bad at navigating tumblr :P

I follow theartoftransliness, tipsfortransmen and ftminfo. A lot of personal blogs make me really uncomfortable with the whole "transtrender" thing, so I prefer not to follow personal transition blogs, though if I really like their posts I do sometimes.

I hadn't heard this "transtrender" term before, so I googled it. I think I like the 3rd definition on urban dictionary best:

3.   transtrender    38 up, 69 down

A derogatory label used by a transgendered person to attack, insult or degrade another transgendered person. The implication being that the other person isn't a REAL transgender because they don't want to get surgery or hormone therapy to change their gender.

Basically it's members of a discriminated-against minority attempting to discriminate against, and one up each other.

Transgendered person: "I can't believe she has the nerve to say that she feels uncomfortable in her body and wishes she was a man! She won't even have surgery done to give herself a fake [penis]! She's obviously just in it to look cool. What a transtrender."

Normal person: "Dude, why would anyone think it's trendy or desirable to be part of a misunderstood and ostracized gender minority? Maybe she just doesn't feel the need to take things as far as you have? Why can't you respect her choices?"

Transgendered person: "Shut up, I'm trans, you're not, and I speak for my entire community!"

OK, a couple of reminders:

11. Foul or obscene language, and/or subjects belongs on the street, Please do not bring it on to my site.

And this guideline: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,65184.msg433223.html#msg433223 (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,65184.msg433223.html#msg433223) entitled:

Please use clinical terms for anatomy

Quote from: Susan on September 14, 2009, 06:02:11 PM
This means you should use words like Penis, Vagina, and Breasts, instead of commonly used terms that have a vulgar cast to them. The Slang terms while descriptive can lead to a negative impression and a lowering of the reputation of the site. Thanks!

Thank you, hugs, Devlyn

Message received. *salute*

The more reasonable FTM blogs don't get into the "you're not really trans" thing, but some personal blogs post about how some trans guys (who see their gender as an identity rather than a medical condition, who don't hate their bodies, or who are more feminine or non-binary) aren't really trans and are "making real trans guys look bad". There are more "all these supposed trans guys posting their *vulgar terms for female anatomy* in the FTM tag, they must not be trans if they can show their bodies" posts in the FTM tag than there are the posts they're complaining about.

This is why I don't really blog a lot yet, though I'm trying to get more into it. I initially posted a photoset of me without and then with a binder, but then I took down the "before binder" photo because I didn't want to get "you're not really trans because you posted a picture of your natural chest" comments.

Those are annoying too because they tend to hate everyone who is binary. Which is just as bad as the other anti-"transtrender" blogs.

Sorry Devlin, I just pasted that definition directly from UD. I've edited out the slang term.

I don't at all. I really think that youtube is nicer amazing as that might be. I think perhaps you can't be quite as anonymous. But I hang with the older guys. (Though I do follow some younger ones too). I do read a few of the tumblrs sometimes (people mentioned some good ones). I also follow some word press like Matt Kailey's Transfesto.

I do NOT at all like the whole "not trans enough" meme. I agree re: one minority group (binary transsexuals) against another (non-binary trans*). Ridiculous what with all the thing trans folks need to deal with why would we be eating our own?

Because some people belive that by accepting others who diffrent we lose our value point, I belive we lose more value by not being able to work together.

i'm a fan of 2 or 3 tumblrs but check them out sparingly... lots of other and better resources on the net.

http://transmilitary.tumblr.com/ (http://transmilitary.tumblr.com/) - I highly recommend everyone check out this blog.

I definitely think there are some wonderful tumblrs. Just not the whole culture there.

I'm 31 and feel like I am too old (and grouchy) for Tumblr. I agree with what everyone has said here. I'd probably go on there and spend most of my time arguing with trans kids about their selfish and idiotic views on certain topics...sooo I just stay outta there.

...and yes, anyone who really knows me will say I am nice (to those who deserve kindness) but I am also a grouch, lol.

I have tumblr and follow F*** Yeah FTMS and Ive found guys personal blogs who are close to me in terms of location. I occasionally post on there to meet new people. I like to see how different people experience and deal with different things. I am also on a group on yahoo groups so you might be able to find something on there.

I follow these blogs more for information. I dont share "that much" stuff about my personal transition just random updates here and there and answered questions from other transmen. It's cool to be able to help someone in that sense or give them some insight on another point of view. Also, I just like making friends. "Disturbing other students" is what they used to say on my report card lol.

I never really heard "transtrending" before. I never really thought that someone would jump on the band wagon of being ftm. It's not really something you can choose right. Are you saying people sort of see it as a fad of some sort. I don't know who in their mind would chose it.

Hope you find what you're looking for yo.

Thanx to that blog, TIL a new term: "gold star gay (http://theartoftransliness.com/post/58249008924/slutc0ven-ryan-on-bass-source-orientation)", which apparently applies to me. :)

As a guy who's on tumblr everyday, I agree with everyone here; there's a huge population of trans* people who think they're better than other trans* people, plus those who get into the whole "cis scum" thing. The blogs mentioned in this thread are good, and you'll certainly find reasonable trans* people, however they don't generally blog about their transition. You'll have much better luck with youtube or something.

Was it that comic about that Man that dates transmen?

Yea that's the one. Made me chuckle a little. It's hard to believe that even within the LBGQT community there is still so much animosity. Ah C'est la vie .
