Title: loosing weight to hide breasts - does that work??
Post by: JLT1 on August 04, 2013, 10:17:50 PM
I'm having a problem with breast size as they are getting almost impossible to hide.  I need to lose weight.  I need to stay stealth at work until a promotion goes through.  I do not know what to do.

I am up for a promotion at work.  It's actually been promised in October.  While I will not lose my job if I transition at work, I will not get another promotion.  I can live with that after this next promotion because I'd have to transfer into management to get another, away from the technical side and I don't want to do that.  But this next one is the panicle of a really tough ladder and I'd like to hit it.

My breasts are 40 DD.  I hide them at work by wearing a woman's long bra that is two sizes smaller than I should wear and then I wear a men's long sleeve shirt over that which is two sizes too large.  My left breast is really tight in that 40DD while my right is actually a little small.  But if I get any larger, the long bra won't hide anything anymore.  I've tried binding, I've read and reread posts about hiding breasts and nothing has worked as well for me as the long bra.  So my idea is to dump weight fast.

I'm 6'1.5", I crush the scales with 215 pounds of bone, muscle and fat (97.5 kg).  At 180 +/- (81 Kg), I won't have much fat.  I can, with extreme effort; drop to that weight in 4 weeks.  At that weight, my breasts will be smaller but so will everything else.

Will they be harder or easier to hide?   :-\

It could go either way. If your gut has more fat, it is easier to believe you have moobs to go with, if you are too thin, then anything  looks odd.

As much as I hate it, this works really well at my work for me.

Edit: I misread your size. If your size drops to a high B or low C, compression wear might work for you, but otherwise I don't think so; I'm sorry. I hope you find a solution.

I have "persistent pubertal gynecomastia."  Meaning, they stayed with me and never went away.  Putting on some extra weight was a way of covering up for having obvious moobs.

You can lose some fat tissue, but if you have significant glandular tissue, like me, they are there to stay.

But geez, 40 DD?  I'm sort of jealous.   >:(

With HRT larger breasts on larger bodies will begin to reshape, and improve in appearance as you loose weight.  Since you already have large breast you might find that they become smaller but propotionally larger for your body, and more difficult to hide without a very tight sport t's, or maybe a compression vest.

Last July I was almost 6 foot, and weighed over 270, with 44C or D breasts from gynecomatia and some unwise self medication (HRT).  I'm now Full-Tiime, weigh 205, and wear a 40D or 42C.  And although the breast size is similar, the ratios changed and my breasts just look fuller.  Plus they have actually grown in a way I can't really explain, and with my new shape they just look nice.   So be prepared for a similar result as you loose both fat from diet, and muscle from HRT.

I finally stopped trying to hide these things last October, came out to the my entire family in California in January, and went full time two months ago here in Michigan.  But until then I found a few things that worked for a while when absolutely needed.  You probably already use, the tight sport t's, and large t-shirts with a large unbuttoned shirts over them.  But I also liked a buttoned short sleave shirt, and a slightly larger unbuttoned heavy cotton shirt over it.  Or an unbuttoned vest, and sometimes a light sportcoat on cooler days.

Good luck until October.   I know you can make it till then, but it'll be cooler by that time and a heavier coat is a fantastic cover.

I thought my boobs were big. I wanna take progesterone to make them even bigger. Maybe it'll work. Maybe it won't. But I would just get a sports bra or cut down your dose. Losing weight isn't going to help much. Like Jamie, I've had gynecomastia my whole life, really they are just boobs, but people never thought I was trans because of it and trust me they noticed since everyone I know has said something. Right now I'm a 32C so they're pretty big on what is a tiny frame, 5'5 130 lbs 13 inch shoulders. They used to be 36B or A. But they were still noticeable. But I wouldn't worry unless there are other things that tip the scale like presentation. No one is going to put the pieces together unless you changed something else. They will just think you are getting older and, uh, bigger lol but like I said for me losing weight, gaining muscle, doing this, doing that, nothing worked. The only thing I could have done was take T and I wasn't willing to do that. So in your case, you are going to have to either A. deal with it and know that no one will know or care. or B. cut down your dose and lose weight and work out and hope you didn't develop glandular tissue. You will get smaller if you stop but how much is unknown. How long have you been on HRT for...40 DD is effing huge. I think a 32 DD would look weird on me tho lol but I do wanna get to a D and just kinda round out.

I guess I am lucky, or unlucky, that I am youngish and my career is on the rocks so I am going to start a new one and the boobs don't really matter as no one looks at me long enough that I don't want to. And I just wear a shirt and a jacket. But I think that smalll frame helps as I just wear a big jacket and voila. But I lovelovelovelove my boobs. They're like soft, downy pillows

I would blame it on gynecomastia at least until you get the promotion if your're worried about it. I grew little ones in puberty and they're still here. If I'm heavier, they aren't quite so noticeable but when I lose weight you can tell more that they are not just moobs. My attitude is "Nunya" when it comes to people looking and or asking and if asked, I usually ask the person about the size of a certain body part of their's.

Some women lose breast mass when they lose weight overall, but others do not.  I have a lot of "dense" tissue, i.e., glandular and ductal tissue, like Jamie D mentioned, so when I lose weight, I stay the same amount of tissue but look bigger.   The next several months I will probably be losing some weight, so my band size will decrease one or two sizes, perhaps, but I will have to go up a cup size, because my breast tissue will not be getting smaller.

And you can see this when you change bra size: down a band size, go up a cup size, so if you used to wear 40C, try 38D.  E.g.,

As Sybil mentions, you can try binding at work, which is what I did until just over a year ago.  As I got larger recently, it became impractical, but my boss was great about it so now I am transitioned at work, I wear my bra openly now, 24/7, THANK GOD!  (Binding was really painful.)  I never thought I would transition at work, but as it turned out, it became a necessity.

What I also did for many years was CAMOUFLAGE my shape.  Ever notice women wearing the blouse over t-shirt like this tv commercial?

(Sunsetter awnings advertised every five minutes where I live!)  This actress is not that big.  But women love this clothing solution in various forms, even if they are not very large -- just instinctively protecting our breasts from unwanted attention.

So figure out what you want to do, but in the end, it is healthiest to be proud of your shape and do not hide it!
