I personally don't believe in love at first sight. I believe it's lust. How can you love someone you don't know ???
Yes, i'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light?
No, i don't think there is love at first sight. You have to know the person behind the looks.
Nope nope nope.
Lust? Love? It's all fun if you're careful. I agree with you SaveMeJeebus 'cause I have been in lust at first sight many times but never love. Sometimes that lust did turn to love after a while though.
I used to believe it was possible. But then I didn't love myself or know what love really was.
Now I know what real love is, the answer is no, there's no such thing as love at first sight.. Lust? Without a doubt..

I'm with you, SMJ. For me, true love can only exist once you know someone well. That takes a while.
I put this with the other common myth that "there's only one right person for you." People use it to convince themselves that the person they're committed to is the best they can get. In reality, there is no better or worse, only someone who is right for you or not. And you can't tell by looking at a person whether they are right for you (unless you're really, really, really shallow )
I agree that this phenomenon is generally lust, rather than love.
I KNOW there that "love at first sight" is possible but it is exceedingly rare and I think only a few people ever experience it.
Years ago I knew a lady who talked about her deceased husband in a way that was 'different' and I felt there must have been something very special there, something unusual. More than 10 years later, almost 20 years ago now, I UNDERSTOOD what it was when it happened to me - it was one of the most profound experiences of my life!
I was at a gathering in a public park when someone came over the hill and when I first saw her, a voice in the back of my head said "Your life has just changed!" I KNEW there was a connection there; I just didn't know what! She came right through the crowd of people, straight up to me (ignoring everyone else) and said "Hi!". I realized I knew everything there was to know about her (except the mundane things like her name, where she lived, etc.) and she knew everything there was to know about me, my likes, dislikes, hopes, fears, all my secrets and all the things I had never said to anyone! I can not explain the connection but it wasn't "of this time and space", it was as if the connection had always existed although we just met, like it had been there for hundreds of years. She instantly became my BFF and everyone could sense the connection between us even if we were on opposite sides of the room, a little awkward since we were both married at the time LOL! (She died from a brain tumour 3 years later but somewhere, sometime I know our paths will cross again.)
Yes, I believe in love at first site.
I loved Sailor Moon the first time I saw her.

Lol I clicked on this thread just to say that! But you beat me to it.
Anyway I don't think you can love someone the minute you see them. But I always took "love at first sight" to mean you realize you love someone the first time you actually meet them. Like you make plans to go for coffee one evening, end up spending the next 12 hours with them deep in conversation, decide to stay up to watch the sunrise, and you realize you've found something special.
first we have to get definitions out of the way as we have to make sure we are talking about the same things
I am pretty particular about things when it comes to relationships
Love is something very particular to me
Love is NOT the polar opposite of HATE it is the the other end of indifference
love is when someone is a part of your life and you both work together to the same goals. You really need to know someone really closely and get their real personality their goals and all to be able to love them
Then there is chemistry, part of what I need to be close with someone is physical intimacy, because I need both Tactile and Olfactory connection connection to really feel someone (it is just the way I am) - I think this sort of thing can happen at first sight
My philosophy is; You do not need to love yourself to love another, as with the love of another you can learn to love yourself.
I think its a lot deeper in that I can love someone that I am not physically attracted to first. They can be physically unattractive to me in the beggining but when getting to know them find out that I am emotionally attracted to them and then the physical attraction grows. So no love at first sight there. On the other hand though I can be physically attracted to someone, spend some time with them and figure out that they are so emotionally unattractive that they are not quite so hansome or beautiful physically anymore. More often than not these two circumstances have been prevailent in my life. So no love at first sight there because all that was is lust. It's dynamic though 'cause when I was younger it was all about the looks, now it's all about the emotional connection and attitude and maybe when I'm eighty I'll have that love at first sight thingy. ;)
I think its possable, me and my boyfriend fell in love at first type if that counts.
9 times out of 10 I'd say no, but then there is always that one who in inexplicably draws you in from the first encounter.
The hubby believes in it. I have learned believing in it is too risky. First, I have to get to know the person. I have to be able to see through the mask that everyone wears, because I cannot see people's auras. Most of the time, when I can see what they are really like, I don't want them as anything more than an acquaintance.
I believe it's possible, cause I experienced it. Unfortunately it was unrequited though. I pined for him for 7-8 months before my feelings finally started to wean off. I fell for him within the first 15 minutes of first meeting, back in 2010. That was weird, but my heart has always been rather wild and unpredictable.
Love is a mutual thing, I believe you can love them a first sight, but they might not love your or vise-versa, but the point is, it isn't real in my opinion

I think love can be one-sided, cause for me that is an individual feeling. For me, such love is like having a crush, but much more extreme/intense and just more in general. But then of course it's a little bit different when it's mutual, but for the most part it feels the same.
Yes I believe in Love at first sight I had it with someone and yes my love keeps on growing unfortunately I also believe there is an exact time that 2 people that love each other will not miss the boat if they are both willing to take the chance and are confident in themselves to love the other and not to think the other is out of there league. Hope that made sense.
I think it is possible.
I also think it is possible to "hit it off" right away.
I also think you can be turned on right away.
I think it is also possible to be otherwise attracted to someone right away.
I thlnk it is possible to want to pursue or develop some sort relationship with someone right away.

I fell in love immediately with my first wife at a Cat Steven's concert. We lasted 7 years, but I could not control my impulses to wear women's clothing when I was not around her. But back in 1972 transgender was not even a word.
"Love at first sight?"
I call it throwing another one in the dungeon....but I'm sure they were all smitten when they saw me. >:-)
Absolutely! I fell for Alexa the moment I saw her, and I was lucky enough that she fell in love with me, too.
