Self explanatory title...
I know I don't post on here very often, usually when I do it's because I'm struggling. I would like to let everyone know that I'm doing well and on May 27 I took the first steps of the last stepsin my "journey" to become what I feel I should have always been.
I won't bore anyone with a massive post about my experience but if anyone would like to ask me any questions about it I'm happy to answer. The basics are:
-I flew to Belgrade, Serbia from Australia for my surgery
-My surgeon was Dr Rados Djinovic
-Surgery cost for Stage 1 was about $22,000 AUD. In all with flights, accomodation, food etc it would have been close to $30,000
-I have two surgeries to go. After Stage 2 I will be able to void standing, Stage 3 is implantation of erectile device
Nick
Well done, Nick!
You must be ecstatic! ;D Congrats.
Congrats dude, it's great you have something good to post :)
Congraduations, Nick, glad you are doing fine. I am interested in anything you would like to tell about your journey through the first stage.
Congrats mate!! Where abouts in Australia are you from?? And how did you find the experience travelling to another country for a medical procedure?? You must be stoked bro 8)
Congrats, hope you are healing well.
Congrats!
How is everything going so far? What do you have to do for post op care for the graft site and crotch parts? How much is surgery 2 and 3 going to cost?
Congratulations, mate!
My question at the moment would be:
What was discussed with you re: the erectile device? Does it have to be replaced every 7 years as I have heard stated before? What are the implications with replacing it (scar tissue, possible stricture in the urethra, etc.)?
Thanks, mate - hope you're enjoying life to the fullest!
Thats awesome! I can't wait for the day I get all that set up (and then I'll probably want a big fast forward to the end of stage 3 =p)
Here's to hoping everything continues to go well for you!
Thanks everyone!
I did write a few blog entries about my experience, not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to it or not.

Hey thanks! I'm from Canberra. I was very lucky to have my mother and her husband come with me, in all honesty I don't know how other guys do it alone. Suprisingly I was fine, probably because I was on a ton of valium :D. The hospitals are definitely different to what you'd expect at home but I can't fault the care I recieved from the nurses. It was a pretty awesome experience actually, I made the most of it when I could and ensured I saw some Serbian sights!

I'm healing really well actually. I did get stitched up downstairs again on Friday, unfortunately the stitches and/or tissue at the vaginectomy site broke down and opened up...I left it for six weeks or so before being bothered to do anything about it. Probably not smart, I just like to think if I ignore the problem it will go away...it didn't happen lol. No infections though, pretty lucky.
The donor site is fine, I will rub anti scaring cream (Dermatix is my gel of choice) as often as I can and will start having professional massages next week to loosen up scar tissue. The wound on my back was a H shape in the beginning, but the line in the middle opened up and was a couple of inches wide and pretty deep. Healed up now though so all is good.
I am supposed to rub scar softening cream on the underside of the phallus a million times a day, I use dermatix down there also and it's pretty good stuff so twice a day does the trick. Nothing more than that. In the beginning I had to put antibiotic cream and softening cream on as well as a bandage to protect my underwear but that was it, pretty straight forward stuff.
Not sure the cost of the next stages yet as the prices have gone up, I imagine they will be cheaper than the first stage.

At this stage I haven't spoken with my surgeon about an erectile device, I'm probably two years away from that unfortunately so I don't have a lot of information on it. They aren't very chatty, in my initial consultation not many questions were exchanged and my one regret is not asking where he was going to put my old bit (clit), I'm not happy with where it is but the assistant surgeon said they could move it in stage 2 if I wanted, hoping that there won't be an excessive loss of sensation if I do that. It's in a really, really dumb spot. Just really dumb and random.
I was wondering what kind of sensation you have in the actual phallus itself if any? Like comparable to touching your arm or something like that? Congrats, I've heard great things about Serbia's phalloplasties.
Congratulations dude :) That is so awesome...

Hey,
Non whatsoever at the moment, still very early on and could take months and months before sensation returns. I expect to have tactile sensation in the phallus itself, not sure if I'll ever be able to have erotic sensation but maybe I can do a nerve hookup one day.
Congrats man! :D
P.S. OMG, the price is beyond me and you still have 2 stages to go... :-\ I think i will never get the money to do it and even with the money i don't think i have enough courage anyway... :'( :-\ :-X

Hey there, I have had my phallo (same surgeon as you) for about 1 year and my sensation is still building icredibly slowly. I would say it takes years, not months, be sure to give it lots of time! Cogratulations too.

Chuck, I know you said you have some sensation and it's building up, how much do you have? And you went to Djinnovich or to Djordjevic?
