'Ello there everyone! :)
...I thought I'd introduced before actually, but apparently not...
So it has appeared as if I've been posting on this forum undercover and mysteriously maybe! The reality is not quite as exciting :P although I'm happy to make-up some intriguing stories as my imagination never shuts up anyway!
Good to meet everyone. *Hands around the Ferrero Rocher*
I'm twenty...*bah*...something (so late 20's in other words), biologically male, hobbit-like in height (though I prefer the term "petite") still just appear to look androgynous sometimes (just!) and I consider myself androgyne (though genderqueer or genderfluid is fine). However, as the human body doesn't have that same friendly flexibility as my brain does, I am increasingly heading Male to female physically, as masculinity & the restrictive male role continue to perplex me. Now I notice that male aging is also uniquely revolting. Yet ultimately I'm not sure where I'm going though, who I am or who I'm supposed to be. I'm being scripted as I go. With bizarre rewrites.
Never mind the wrong body, I often think I'm from the wrong time, badly photoshopped into the 21st century :-) I've always felt most at ease picturing myself looking rather late Victorian to Edwardian. Women (well, rich ladies anyway) had amazing style back then. Especially those crazy bustles, but then that was all acceptable back in the '80's (as in the 1880's, hell yeah)!
I adore Genesis, ELO, super-hyper Japanese & Korean pop, and then frighten myself to sleep with the disturbing drones of electronica music such as by Boards of Canada. I'm into urban exploration, Japanese fashion, historical costumes, random man-made stuff like ships and bridges, vintage TV studios, and miserablist comedians. I also have a noisy cat who I've called Mellotron.
Not sure to put my real name on here, as I wonder which narrow-minded potential employees may find it and add me to their "socially unacceptable applicants" pile. So I'll call myself Stella (in thumbs-up to Stella Boulton - the famous Victorian crossdresser, actress and proto-transgender accidental activist).
Looking forward to chatting and finding out more about stuff in general. Thanks for reading!
Welcome Stella.
While I do not know the do's and do not's of victorian garb I do find I lean in favor of them but more the androgynous side, but I think that is because I'd be too paranoid of the stares I would get walking around the streets in a dress that would make it very difficult to get on the bus or train.
I hope you continue to enjoy yourself here. Also hello to Mellotron.
Hi there EmeraldPerpugilliam and Miss Bungle (oh and not forgetting Portia Porcupine of course!)
Mellotron says "hello".... I think, although you can never be sure with cats.
When I visited the cats' home, I heard all the miaowing, and to me it sounded like a skip full of analogue synthesisers tuning-up just before a prog-rock mash-up convention. Then I came across this random tortoiseshell coloured cat, which already looked as it if had been stored in a dusty cupboard for decades and only fired-up for special occasions. The kitty greeted me with a series of rich, deep, squelchy sounding miaaaaooows, which instantly reminded me of the sound of Tony Banks' mellotron on Genesis songs like "Afterglow" and "Heathaze".
Why hasn't anyone made a melodic-feline-synthesiser? featuring the meows from different breeds of cat? Yes it would be insane, but that's no excuse not too.
Anyway, back to reality - and Victorian fashion of course - yes I only tend to limit myself to wearing high-collared blouse/shirts, long female coats and occasionally I style my hair like a Gibson Girl from the 1900s'. Haven't tried wearing one of those long dark skirts yet, although they are pretty flattering if you have narrow hips, as the gored cut of the dress makes the skirt flare out. Actually, lots of Victorian/Edwardian female fashions would actually flatter males. wanting to look great in dresses. :)
I assume Mellotron is your cat? Is he a Transformer? a Digimon? :laugh:
My face lite up when you said you were handing out Ferrero Rochers - It was a funny thing to say.
Lord of the Rings fan, huh? I have never read the books :-X
I think ladies from that era looked dashing :laugh:
Mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong? ;D (I am now listening to the song full blast)
Anyway, welcome :P
Welcome Stella! :)
I don't want to alarm you but there seems to be a creepy doll sneaking up behind you in your profile picture. :icon_yikes:
I hope you're okay. ;)

Hello again everyone!
Yes Amelia Pond! There is a mysterious Victorian-dressed lady to my left, and a fluffy purple alpaca to my right. The doll isn't creepy though, just "mis-understood" :P She's had her off-the-rails times of freaking people out, and now she just wants to sit on my shelf and simply look pretty. As for alpaca, well he is just a party-animal. Soft toys are usually a handful to be honest, turn your back for two seconds and they'll be partying in your room and stealing your confectionary. Well, they do in my mind, anyway.
I am ok thank you, how about yourself? :-)
SaveMeJeeBus! - haha! Noooo sadly, Mellotron can't transform (I don't think...) but if she could, I think she'd transform into something rather arbitary and obsolete - like a Betamax video-player or an Atari.
Not a major LOTR fan, though I appreciate the stories & the amazing universes and characters, plus have watched the films, but I haven't caught the bug as such. Though, I used to live in the area of Birmingham, UK, where Tolkien grew-up and subsequently based much of the look of Middle Earth on. It's still funny watching foreign tourists arriving at this ordinary place and going "so this is what the whole universe of LOTRs was based on???...Eh??" Are you a fan of Tolkein and LOTR or The Hobbit?
Yay! Another ELO fan! Most people find ELO to be dated and embarrassing now, sadly, despite the fact their music was rather technically superior in some ways, and their melodies are amazing!! "Nightrider" is a wonderful song I've come across recently, have a listen!
I like ALL the uncool stuff, music and eras you may have noticed :-)
Hi Stella, :icon_wave:
Welcome to our little family. Over 7006. That would be one heck of a family reunion.
Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams. Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.
But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsmileys.on-my-web.com%2Frepository%2FAnimals%2Fferret-3.gif&hash=f49e2f86761323f2abd9c33941920389dbb3b10f)

hi stella, if you ever get a second cat, you should totally name it Moog or Mini-Moog.

Your cats a girl? My bad. Unfortunately your cats not that cool ::) I was actually curious to know how you came up with her name....
The films are definitely among the greatest of all time. I also enjoyed playing Lord of the Rings Online. I don't think I caught the bug either, but I would visit locations and I would even buy 'the one ring'.
I have never heard of Nightrider. I just listened to it and it was pretty good. Do you have a Last.FM account? ::) (Kids these days have little clue about music! :laugh:)
How about some Yes? It might be right up your alley if you like the old Genesis stuff.

Greetings again, Stella.
Just wondering, is that an irrational dress you are wearing? ;)
Hi Stella and Mellotron, welcome to Susan's Place! I'm a dog person, I kind of collect yellow labs. See you around the site,hugs, Devlyn
Devlyn Marie - that's a lovely dress you're wearing btw! I love the colour, so rich! Hugs to you too :-)
Speaking of dogs...and the usual - "I like cats" OR "I like cats" thing, I actually like both dogs and cats... but in different ways. Its bizarrely like my attraction to guys or girls I am attracted to both for different reasons. Not saying I'm attracted to dogs or cats of course, haha! But I feel at home with either but for very different reasons.
Cats are a more....luxurious pet - softer fur, sleeker to look at, arguably prettier and somewhat more refined. Dogs are more of a practical pet - more supportive, more rugged and potentially low maintenance. That's how I see it anyway. Although you can have stray cats and pampered pooches of course! Having a cat is more like dating a high-maintenance woman, and having a dog is more like dating a rugged man. Btw, this is not a serious observation :P
Actually, with how cats are - having a cat is like being in an abusive relationship, they take take take and only give when they want to. But we love 'em anyway. Because we are weak :D
~~~
ZootAllures! - I like the name btw, even the swear words in French sound like fancy restaurants!
Yes, yes, yes! I have wanted to call a cat Moog for years!! Moog sounds very cat-like, its perfect. It was the first keyboard I heard about before the Mellotron. I also want to someday have a big fluffy sooty-coloured cat that is uneconomical to run (eats to much), kills to much wildlife and therefore is constantly in trouble with Greenpeace. And for that, I want to call the cat - "Drax" after the UK's largest, smokiest, coal-fired power station.
I like industrial stuff generally. If I could live in anytime - I'd be a Victorian industrialist and society Lady, with soot in my nicely styled hair, and crumpled blueprints sticking out of the pockets of my sumptuously trimmed bustle dress. A female Isambard Kingdom Brunel :)
Yep, I like Gabriel-era Genesis and Collins-era, although I prefer the whimsy of the earlier years, what about you? Ever heard their song "Counting out Time"? It's hilarious and pretty rude. I always thought early Genesis just sang about epic mythical battles and other geeky stuff, lol. Nope, I don't have Lastfm, but I really should! Spotify too!
~~~
SaveMeJeebus - Glad you liked Nightrider! Oh, the Mellotron was a music keyboard from the 1960's (it played sampled sounds from a series of tape drives, with the keys linked to each drive). Lots of prog-rock bands used the Mellotron. So if I had wanted to feature cat sounds in a song if I was a keyboardist back then, then I'd use the mellotron to do so. And make the cat miaows sound really awesome. I'd call my art-rock band "Eclectic Cat Orchestra", and we'd have hits in every country. And then sue each other for royalties years later ;D
I love the mellotron on Led Zeppelin's "The Rain Song", "Kashmir" and "Ten Years Gone", as well as on the classic Yes albums (hums "Close to the Edge to himself").
BTW, i took the name "Zoot Allures" from a Frank Zappa instrumental.

I'm more of a dog person btw.
