I've recently found a rather good show on Netflix called Hit and Miss. Its about a transgender hitman who finds out she has a son. Its done by BBC, so its well written. I'd like to hear from ya'll and hear your opinions on it. I've found it to be dead on in some ways about being transgender and in some respects missing it all together. I'm at about show number 3 or 4 of one season.
I've always wanted to see this show but haven't. I do think Chloe Sevigny is an amazing actress and understood part of what being a trans woman is like for some: loathing your genitalia. She said in an interview she wore a prosthitc penis and she literally cried it felt so wrong. That's how I have felt everyday of my life. I tried to hang myself when I was 10 because of it and I would prolly be dead but the bar I hung myself on broke. At the time I thought God hated me so much he made me biologically male and made suicide impossible and would intervene again if I tried. Now I thank God I'm alive. Life is beautiful.
Maybe I should try to stream the show in a torrent or something.
I've never heard of that one. I used to have Netflix for a couple years but I had a lot of stuff go down at home and haven't had it in like 6 months. Maybe I'll renew my subscription after the weekend is over and check it out.
It's a really good series, highly recommended. And Chloe is very beautiful.
I also think the series really does portray a very possible reality for some transwomen.
Just watched the series on Netflix. I love how she punches a hole in the wall when she loses her hormones. Lol. I would probably do the same.
It's funny I actually auditioned for the role of the transgender hitman/hitlady in that show. I saw an advert at first they were looking explicitly for a transwoman to play the part although obviously afterwards they accepted a Cis-woman I'm told, I applied and got turned down (Apparently I looked too young to be a parent I was only 22 at the time and they wanted 25-35)
Oh well :) The audition was in a odd very gay part of london in a kinda seedy bar called Carousel I must be honest I did feel alittle strange walking in there at 8am

I really enjoyed that series. At first since I was weary of it since Hollywood so paints a "wonderful" picture of transsexuals so often. But my therapist recommended it and I was pleasantly surprised. :)

Thanks for this one! I just streamed the whole season 1 down and am anxious to give it a try. The first 10 or so minutes of episode one looked quite promising.

It was a cheap slightly studentish one. I did get told it's name... urrm I will try and find the flyer.
I watched the whole first season on Project Free TV (http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/). Interesting. I love how Mia has to balance between family and the job, especially when the job is a hit woman. They made her transgender as a hook.
I was doubtful going into watching the season on Netflix, but I actually liked it. I felt they could have done without a few scenes in the shower and such, but the show really did shed some light on some of the issues we have to deal with in our lives.
Marsh, I totally agree...some of the scenes are a bit gratuitous, but I can see that they want to get the trans part across. I love the interplay between Mia and her son and with Mia and her boyfriend (only part way through the series). It just really brings out the turmoil, both internally and externally.
If I'm not mistaken, Chloë Sevigny was also in Boys don't Cry. She gets an A+ (and she is really cute too)

I think this is all good advice and I hope some of it helps.
As for the clothes, you'd be surprised what you'd find at the clearance racks, thrift stores, goodwill, ect. You don't have to get alot. Just a few things and keep under a budget.
One thing I forgot to mention however is to also get hooked up with a trans support group. I'm with trans-central Pa. They can be a HUGE help. Specially with the parents. I know we usually have a therapist who attends, just to give advice ranging from recommended doctors, parents, and more. One of the things I like is that during the meeting she will take people like parents, loved ones, ect off to another room to talk to them about the TG in their lives. It can be very helpful.
But I would agree that a job or school is something that is a must. While it would be nice if your parents would pay for things for you but you shouldn't rely on them. By doing so, would show them that you are being mature and working for it so they maybe more open to it. Plus it would take a lot of the stress off of them. just my own opinion.
