Expensive and not very effective as it blocks  a type of T which female bodies don't have much of to begin with.

On a slightly related side note, be careful of finasteride for baldness treatment. I've been on it for over 20 years and it's kept me from losing any more hair since then, but only recently heard of a side effect of reducing body hair to some extent. I don't care for body hair so I don't mind but if you want body hair, you may be forced to decide whether it's worth giving up some hair on your head. :)

One thing I have read making me think it wouldn't work is that the body hair and hair on your head are different sorts of hair follicles  (thinking pubic and underarm hair may be more similar to facial hair). I lost body hair but didn't lose facial hair later in life.

My recollection is that monoxidil, the drug in Rogaine, was originally an oral medicine for high blood pressure. Maybe it still is or maybe it's been replaced with something better. A side effect was more body hair. That's what led them to experiment with it as a topical treatment for baldness.

It would appear Dalebert is correct and it doesn't affect DHT after all.  It would still be expensive however and is very toxic to cats.

Not to mention that you wouldn't want to orally take something to lower your blood pressure when you don't actually have high blood pressure. Yikes!

I got some at Target, and it was their brand. I am going to use it on my face, but not body. I know someone who did this and got a lot more hair growth. But I am a bit more worried about using it on larger areas. I'm just going to use it for very small areas. But it worked really well for him anyway. We both have facial hair, so... On the package it says male pattern baldness areas only. So I think to be safe you should test and see how you react to it.

Good to know about cat toxicity. That would make me more careful. But I already do the T-cream and close the bathroom door. The cats know the drill.

It's good to note that any growth obtained through Rogaine will go away once usage is stopped.
