Title: Handwriting changes?
Post by: JLT1 on August 21, 2013, 10:59:53 AM
Wow, I was writing down some notes during a meeting when I noticed I could actually read them quite easily.  This has not been my norm at all throughout my life. Or, well, ever.  We are talking BAD.  Now, over te past few weeks, it's gotten to be not all bad.

So, I don't think it changed due to direct influence of HRT but I suspect it may be due to a change in my outlook on life and the way I feel about myself as a secondary effect of HRT.

Thoughts?  Anyone else have changes in handwriting?

Er, what is this "handwriting" of which you speak?  Is it that thing my grandparents told me about once, back in the old days, where they used "pens" and "paper"?

(Seriously, I can't remember the last time I actually picked up a pen and wrote more than my signature or scribble a shopping list.  I probably would not even recognize my own handwriting these days.)

I usually print stuff, cursive went out in the 9th grade or so. I've always had neat "blocky" printing, but I've noticed the letter sizes/spacing are a LOT more consistent now, with no real effort on my part.

Cursive I have to stop in the middle of many of the words, because I have to remind myself how to write the letters..."Let's see..."m" has 3 bumps, "n" has two...make an "r", not an "h"..."  :-X

Handwriting is one of those rare things which seems to reflect whichever mood I'm in. This has always been the case though, and I can't say there have been any changes directly from HRT.

The "neatness" of it reflects how generally happy I am/aren't, and sloping backward or forward seems to reflect how interested I am in whatever is being written about.

Uhm, I've worked on my handwriting a lot in the past, before transition, because it was important for me to have a nice one. And through chaotic stages (including one with stars on the i's x.x) I eventually went from something rather messy and unequal to something pretty nice-looking.

I think it's mostly psychological. As in, somewhere within you, you wanted to be more feminine in that way too. Something like that. However it's not like HRT doesn't have any effect at all. With testosterone off from you, you'll tend to clutch your pencil and press on the paper less, normally, which should result in a less "scribbled", smoother handwriting.

Michele: Lol, my job is all about computers, yet I always pre-design stuff on paper before.
