Title: is that a light ahead or a freight train?
Post by: kariann330 on August 23, 2013, 07:33:09 PM
So im back again because a neighbor is letting me use there wifi, but soon that might end. I finally have a job interview Tuesday but am kinda anxious about it. It's with Walmart and while the company does keep people around once hired, i have heard tumors of them being rather discriminatory towards women, gays, lesbians and trans people when it comes to hiring. Yes i will be going as Chris and hiring in as Chris but will eventually want to fully transition. Has anyone transitioned while working there and if yes are they as bad as they are rumored to be?

I'm really hoping they aren't because i really, really need this job so i can get back on my feet and get my transition going again....oh and finally be able to fix my bad haircut lol.

To be totally honest yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You just need to keep walking towards it and not let the darkness take over.

I want to wish you luck with your interview. I just wish you could do it as you.

Hugs
Izzy

I generally dislike Wal-mart because of their complicity in the overfishing of the Chilean Salmon population which they are driving to extinction as well as other transgressions against the environment and animals (I'm not a vegan but if a fish is going extinct I think you should stop mass marketing them) however I have never heard that they are discriminatory towards anyone. I actually think they get pretty high marks when it comes to the LGBT community to be honest. Plus they sell moisturizer for really cheap so i am a big freaking hypocrite. Hey God can make more Salmon right? Hhehe.

In all seriousness, i think you will get the job and you deserve it and it won't affect your transition. Good luck!

I've also heard Walmart is pretty LGBT friendly.

LGBT friendly when hiring yes, but i have herd members of our community are constantly overlooked for raises and promotions unless living stealth.

not to piss on anyones parade, but good luck ever even getting a raise or a promotion. I worked their for 2 years and never got a penny extra and I was 1 of 3 people in that department. you'll transition fine there if your good at budgeting

Wal Mart is very LGBT friendly actually. My daughter works for them and she is lesbian and so is the CSM that she works under. They have both told me that Wal Mart has very good policies regarding discrimination towards their workers & for the people that shop there.
