Title: Ecru Shoes
Post by: DriftingCrow on August 25, 2013, 07:25:34 PM
I wear women's clothes to work, and lately I've been just wearing dresses or skirts because suits get uncomfortable all day. I find skirts/dresses are more comfortable than suits.

Anyways, I usually wear black or grey with either black flats or black two-inch heels.

I just ordered this olive green dress (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/work-the-right-angle-dress-in-olive?utm_source=transactional&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ship_tracking&utm_keyword=%5BORDER_USERNAME%5D) from Modcloth the other day, and was originally planning on just continuing with my black heels with it.

But, I've also been considering getting a lighter pair of heels so I am not stuck wearing out my blacks all the time, and these ecru heels (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/shoes-heels/paving-grace-heel) just got on the Modcloth website today and I've been thinking of ordering them (since it's nearly impossible for me to find heels shorter than 4 inches in local stores).

Which leads me to ask, is it okay to wear light colored heels with the olive green dress? When is it okay to wear light colored heels anyway? Is it only with white, pastels, or other light colored skirts/dresses?

------------

Edit to add:

these shoes are also cute, not sure if I want to spend that much on shoes though:

Dark brown will fit well with green. I personally would not wear ecru to a green dress but it is not very uncommon. I would wear ecru to blue dresses but I am very conservative during worktime. Ecru also looks great to a light brown or ecru dress in summer.

IMHO, dark colored shoes will be better, such as brown or grey.

I also have Khaki one-piece dress, but I wear it at home. I may wear it outdoors with flat sandals.

Jamie, those shoes are awesome, but they need spikes in the front so you can kick people better.

I decided against the ecru, and ended up getting these (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/shoes-heels/few-steps-forward-heel-in-cognac) at the suggestion of the girls at work (it was a really boring day) instead because of the darker color, low heel, and more timeless look.

Well, your choice looks fine to me. One of my web-cruising things is to constantly save images of currently fashionable celebs and models for quick reference at clothes-shopping time. Just looking over some of the recent ones, it does appear that there is a trend toward wearing either lighter shoes with darker clothes or darker shoes with lighter clothes. The shoe thing is kind of confusing, though, since there seems to be no real rule about color matching-- except, perhaps, that nobody actually matches them.
