Title: TS in Fayetteville, NC
Post by: Katherine on August 27, 2013, 02:00:18 AM
Hi, I'm looking for another TS living in Fayetteville, NC for friendship and support.   Would really love to hear from someone for simple meets over coffee or whatever.  It would just be nice to have a friend to talk to.  I'm looking for male to female, pre-op or post-op.  Thank you.

Katherine, we have several members in North Carolina.

Your city has over 200,000 people, and over 375,000 in the greater metro area.  That means you should have between 600 and 1100 transgendered persons in your vicinity.

I'll see what I can find out.

I'm in NC, but at the coast, in a tiny town of 420 where we have a whole 2 of us who are mostly transitioned. I know there is a lot of military around Fayetteville, so I wonder if that would affect how many there are there, Jamie's numbers for tg seem a little high for the area. You could try googling TG groups for the area, but I imagine most would be in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Charlotte and Asheville.

A lot are not out, so the numbers will seem high.

The Williams Institute study put the percentage of TG/TS persons in the general US population at 0.3%

We have a lot of work to do to reach more of them.

It's in Raleigh, if you don't mind the commute. It looks like the meetings have a pretty good turn-out. You might meet someone there from Fayetteville.

I truly appreciate the responses and the link.  I am still living as a man, but had seen Ms. Hahn in Wilmington several years ago.  I feel like I truly let her down by not moving on with transition, but I'm feeling very guilty about bringing my wife into our marriage.  I'd really like someone local that I can talk with and start being me again.  I really set up a lot of road blocks to force myself to live as a man.  I've wasted my life.  Anyway, again, thank you for the responses, they are truly appreciated.

Hi Katherine, I just found this post from a google search! I currently present as male and would like to start HRT in the near future. I am in the Fayetteville/Hope Mills area and if we could meet up that would be sooo awesome!  :D

I don't have any TG friends at the moment so I could really use the support as well! Having a friend that understands me would just be.... amazing!

Hi Brandy,
I've sent you an email.  I hope we will be able to meet and talk, I think it would be really nice.  Thank you for contacting me and take care.

Hello All,

It's rather difficult locating a ts here in Fayetteville, NC.  I could really use the contact that I hope will lead to a friendship.  I had seen Ms. Hahn in Wilmington, NC in the mid 90's and she believed I was ready to move on with my transition, she followed the Harry Benjamin Standards of Care, I didn't because of familial issues, and truly wish I had.  I'm 60 now and could use a friend to talk with and preferably someone nearer my age if possible.  I'm looking for someone either living as herself or who has or is undergoing therapy.  I don't mean to be a bother, just looking for a like minded person.  Thank you.

Honestly I thought I'd be able to contact at least one TS here in Fayetteville.  No contacts here.  I want to thank susan for allowing me to be a member of this site and wish the best for all here.  Perhaps it's my mood swings, but I really don't see a need to continue membership.  Again, my best to all and I hope you continue on your journeys to be your true selves.

I don't see info on how to remove my membership, please cancel it and again thank you.

Well, thanks for not removing my membership.  I was really feeling down again when I posted this and I'm finally getting more positive about my life.  I've finally restarted my hormone regimen and just want to get on with my life, such as it is.

I appreciate this information, however, to date I have not personally met another ts/tg person in my area.  Surprisingly, I have not heard from anyone on this site, other than one person.  I'm tired of not being able to have someone I can talk to who shares what I'm going through.  I tried finding others in my area on another similar site and an admin or whatever said it's not a dating service.  I have not returned to their site.  I can't travel to Raleigh where there is a support group because I own a business here and just can't get away just yet (it's a new business and requires much of my time until it is more established).  This is so frustrating.  I would have thought I could find others through this site, but all indications are that it isn't going to happen here.  I'll check in here from time to time, but honestly it just seems so hopeless.

If you have access to Bragg, I know of a place that is friendly to civilian trans people. I knew a couple while I was stationed there. I'm sorry, but this is about all the help I have at the moment. I do know that one of my friends is planning on moving there in the next couple of years to be with her family.

I also live in Fayetteville ... not been having much luck myself .. I am wanting to get the ball rolling but have had zero luck finding resources ... I hope you will contact me ... I saw where you said you started HRT and I could really use a pointer in that direction.

Hello and thanks to all who have responded.  I am still looking for a transgendered friend here that I can speak with, share thoughts, and simply enjoy each others company while we move forward with our respective lives.  An easy thing to want, but so difficult to attain.  While I am undergoing hrt, I cannot and am not qualified to discuss my regimen, medication(s), etc. in these forums.  Please, anyone wanting hrt needs to see their gender therapist.  I don't mind discussing this in person, just not here, and even then I will always recommend professional assistance.  We are all physiologically different, and what may work for me may not work for another.  Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to meet a tg that is undergoing transition from male to female.  Wish you all the best.

Kathy

Living in Durham I don't often get to Fayetteville.

I strongly support sharing information about which professionals are offering treatment and experiences with them, though, as the region has had some serious problems with that over the past few years.

Hello Agent_J, I was seeing Louise Hahn when she had an office in Wilmington, NC.  You can find info on her at http://www.chsfnc.org/v3/directory.php.  She was so helpful for me, more than she would think.  It's been a long while since I've seen her, but I do want to get back with her.

Unfortunately, Wilmington is too far for me.

Hi Agent_J, Wilmington is where she was when I was seeing her.  If you follow the link in my previous post you'll notice that she is now in Winston-Salem area.  Take care.

Ah, that was not obvious to me when I viewed the link.

Anyhow, I don't have much need for therapist and there are now lots more in Durham who are well regarded by others. The issue was HRT doctors.

I'm guessing then that you've already been through therapy?

Yep, five years of it. I had SRS over a year ago (though with an extra year delay thanks to my therapist holding on writing my letter after agreeing to do so.)
