Title: Test results and questions
Post by: Rachel on August 30, 2013, 08:01:38 PM
I got back test result and they were very comprehensive.

When with the PA I asked if my Estradiol and Spironolactone were going to be increased. He said no and he needed to see the prolactin results and that we did not want it high. Normal is 2-18 ng/ml and I am a 22. Testosterone was <20 ng/dl and normal male is 241-827 ng/dl. Non fasting glucose was 108 mg/dl ( way cool, ate rice 2 hours prior ) and potassium was dead in the middle (cool) of the range. All the other results were normal but fats and cholesterol are very very low (normal for me). PA said all is great keep up the good work.

Ok, questions:
My E and AA doeages are in the middle of the range. Should he raise the E?
T looks good to me, :) Please comment if not?
Is the prolactin good?

I wanted some comments prior to bugging the PA about raising the E. I have some tissue growth. Should I just relax? My next appointment is in 6 months and I have all the scripts I need. I am starting to get excited  ;D Next time I would see him I would have some great results and I think I am going to stay in the lane.

I would think being mid range for female would be perfect E levels.

Cynthia I can't comment on the best therapy levels for you but perhaps share your excitement, wanted to increase my dose and was also counseled to just relax.  My docs noted that increasing dosages can come with increased risks.
We have waited a long time to get here but a blood clot could sure wreck our day?  Those are great lab results for where you started from.
That you are seeing tissue growth is really encouraging while some of our sisters here complain about nada after many months.  Our bras will last longer if we go slow;-)

Cool, thanks for the replies.

E was not listed in the results. What was puzzling when I asked is he said he watches prolactin levels so the pituitary gland does not increase in size. My e dose is just below the middle of recommend maximum. They treat a lot of TG at Mazzoni and I was disappointed in not seeing the E levels.

My wife says I have little girl tits and will need a bra soon (not intended as a compliment but it is).

I just love my teenager tits and give em a private squeeze whenever I need a lift.  Pretty cool to get another chance at puberty huh?  Plus no periods;-)

2nd puberty is great. My life was in silence in public. Now I need to keep my mouth shut. Periods are definitely a bummer; I feel for my wife and daughter.

Ya, my poor daughter would roll on the floor like she was dying during her periods.  Plus we don't get pregnant.  Even tho that was one of my childhood dreams I now have less romantic ideas about childbirth.
I knew a number of trans people before I accepted myself as TG and I found that they often had so many challenges and just seemed to suck the air out of the room at diversity meetings.  I now better understand how compelling and deeply comprehensive transition is and try to forgive myself for seeming so self absorbed.  I love to talk about all of this and do the support groups while trying to leave a little air in the room for others;-)
