Title: Transition
Post by: carrie359 on September 03, 2013, 11:00:31 AM
Hair... yuck.. ok I shaved my entire chest and arms love it ..BTW..  I have unfortunately a lot of hair...
If I start HRT what happens to chest hair.. I can shave it all off but its prickly.. even when I really try to get it smooth barely gets totally smooth.
Does body hair other than facial hair seem to thin out and get softer so its easier to manage...?? I hope its ok to post this here.
Take care,
Carrie

It generally becomes thinner and lighter.  You will likely need laser.

I'd actually suggest to start epilating it - combined with the HRT it is going to weaken Your bodily hair very significantly.

This is what I did :D so utterly worth the inital pain but wow the machines are noicy. Still hairy but its soft and lighter so if anything a lot less male.

mine fell out mostly, and the very few remaining hairs turned really thin and clear.

Most of my body hair went away and the little that remains, legs and arms, is so wispy and blonde you can't really see it.   This is not something you should expect, but it can happen.  I was not that hairy to start with, but it was definitely there and is not there now, fwiw.

I am lucky that I have not lost much hair on my head... and lucky I have low T... so I don't hardly even have underarm hair..  Maybe I will get lucky too.. time will tell...

I shave my face and use Eflora cream.  Same as Vaniqa just different brand.

I use a mechanical epilator on my arms and chest.  I have so little hair on my legs I don't bother.

My body is hair is very thin but should go away completely I think. I took a very very low dose of spiro for half my transtion so the fact it has gone down this much says alot. But worse comes to worse ill get laser on my chest. it will take one session. Its hardly there and takes weeks to come back.

If you cant afford laser on your face I recommend plucking if you dont have much to begin with. I plucked out all my facial hair except the neck and I dont have to shave for a week at a time basically. It is barely growing back and i have no shadow. But id like to get laser as soon as i can.

Joanna,
Unfortunately for me I have a lot of facial hair.. the kind that will take 300 hours to get rid of..  so I hope the other hair thins so I can concentrate on the face.. but will take a couple years at least...
Good thing is that if I transition I can work from home and nobody is the wiser as I go...
