Title: The phantom penis
Post by: jonjon on June 20, 2007, 11:56:50 AM
I would just like to clarify that i'm not the *only* one who feels that it's actually there when it's never even been there.

That limb that has felt physically there to me since as far back as i can remember.... I cant see it... i cant physically feel it.... but it's there. Definitely there.

Yep. Can't deny it. Honestly, I think that's the only reason I'm not all gung-ho over SRS... I don't need a phalloplasty. Already have what I need.

Very great thread, Wishy. So, do you feel it's presence all the time or just during sexual escapades? I feel it during those times, or rather the lack of it. I'll be putting the moves on someone, and have the urge to penetrate, then I'll be like 'wait a minute, something's missing.'
At those times, I am like a crackhead without a pipe. Product in hand, but nothing to hit it with. They've got to hit it, they're going to hit it - tearing out basement pipes and structures, tv antennas, whatever it takes. I'm resourceful like a crackhead. I don't happen to have the right tool for this project, I've got to make do. So, I do notice it at times like this.

I've not really had the chance to put my 'phantom penis' to action - like you say Nero. But i do get it's presence all the time. When i'm sexually aroused... it's like... there should be something there to show that i am.... My mind knows it's there but my eyes cant see it  :-\

Yeah that's pretty much when I feel it too. I'll be aroused and actually have to remind myself sometimes that I don't have that tool. For us, I think it's instinct more than anything else. Men have a biological urge to penetrate, so when men like us are aroused, it's natural to sometimes forget and be like 'oh wait a minute, I don't have the tool for this activity'. That's the only time I've ever noticed it though. The rest of the time, what I have in my pants just feels natural.

ROFL :D :D

I'm sure you probably do feel it.  I always felt like I had phantom breasts and now that I really have them, I can say it feels exactly like what I thought it would.  So, I definitely believe it when people talk about phantom parts.

The same thing works for us T-girls in reverse.  Tucking felt so-o right!  There's a kinesthetic thing going on...

You dudes may want to try a packer (if you aren't already) just to add a few more sensory clues...

And, what's the operation that releases the clitoris?

Aye, packer feels good, but hard to get used to the look. Feels like everyone is staring - as it may feel like for you girls if you're not tucked.

Operation that releases the clit is called.....wait for this.....a clitoral release. There's another called a metoidioplasty, which does some other stuff which gives us a mini-dick.

Yep, phantom penis sounds pretty much the counterpart of what I have -- phantom breasts and a sensitivity-enhanced strap-on.

LOL!  Well, it's about time!   ;D  Reading down this thread, I was wondering when someone was finally going to dare mention how this relates to the use of artificial dicks.   (Hmmnn... and I notice it wasn't one of the guys that first braved the thought! ^-^ )

While my mind is still my biggest sexual organ, and I don't require a physical object, it's still nice to actually have something 'in hand' as well.  I've just never really given that much thought though to an actual phantom penis though; it's more like it's just always been a given.

I've lived my whole life as though I "had a set", but that's more of a pschycological and attitude thing.  I've never felt the need for a real 'in the flesh' penis either though.  On the other hand, it's a huge turn-on to look down and see a physical bulge from wearing an artificial one, (let alone in its use, of course!  My very slight sense of discretion prevents me from further expounding on that topic however...)

I'll never trade in the practicality of packing (whether for daily wear, or for sexual play) for the much less functional (IMHO) surgical solutions.  And while we're discussing the 'outward' parts, where does one discuss what non-op Transmen do, (or don't do!) with their original inward parts?  I've been very curious as to how others feel about that, but rather timid to ask.

For me, it's like, when something catches my interest in a sexual way, I can feel it. I feel like I'm getting a hard-on and my pants/underwear actually feel tighter, however, when you look, you don't see anything out of the ordinary. It's actually very upsetting, because as a male, I'm a homo...and I'm not the type that likes to take it if you get my drift.

It kills me a little inside to feel that, what I call, invisa-dick and not be able to use it. I want to have bottom surgery, but if I still can't use it, what is the point? I've used toys with my boyfriend, and I do get some satisfaction from it, but it's not the same. He supports me in whatever direction I choose to go with the gender thing, but has stated that he's happy with me as am. He doesn't want to risk my being inable to orgasm just so he can look at a penis.

But I digress... I know what you mean by it just 'being there'. I've felt it all my life, and probably always will.

This has always been a bit of an internal arguement for the last few years for me. I don't identify as FtM and I don't want surgery because I don't want to have any permanent changes; I like my breasts and vagina sometimes. But sometimes I very very much want the male genitalia. It's all a matter of what mood I am in. Sometimes I love to be the "female" but sometimes that urge to penetrate is so strong, when I realize I can't sometimes I have an emotional breakdown. So it's pretty obvious I know what the "Phantom penis" sensation feels like, because sometimes I really do feel it there and wish it was there.

It feels like I'm making such a big deal of something I can never have, but I don't think I am. This is something that has begun to get very painful for me but I could never transition.

My biggest fantasy is to be able to switch the way my body looks, including organs as often as I like, thus resulting in a fluid gender identity and sexuality; but alas, it is only a dream that I know will ever come to fruitation.

This actually sounds like an interesting idea for a series of graphic novels.  Stories in a world where some, if not all, people can change their sex things to what they feel like being.  There'd be these characters that show up to meet with their friends and the friends don't look at them twice except maybe to say, "so you're feeling like Liza today, huh?" or "so, you're lou today?".
I like the idea of mixing it up too.

I used to have a phantom vag, but it comes around less now. I suppose it found a better friend to hang out with.   By thw way, has anybody seen my vag?   If so, tell her I need her.

Do you have phantom balls too or just the shaft?

I hear you on that one. Although I haven't participated in any kind of sexual activity for almost a year, when I was it drove me nuts that I couldn't do what I so desperately wanted to.

More recently I've felt the lack when I go to the toilet. I keep going in there, standing in front of it wondering why on earth I'll end up pissing down my leg if I try standing up.

Okay, I know this thread is old and dead, but Chris posted the link to it in another (current) thread and when I read this particular comment, I *had* to respond.

Nero, I TOTALLY know what you mean about the "crackhead without a pipe" (lol... "pipe") phenomenon. When this happens I usually succumb to using a strap-on, but it's just. not. good. enough. :( And then I feel completely crazed and can totally relate to the crackhead analogy...

I have SUCH a strong desire to penetrate my partner with MY OWN penis... Most times this desire is beyond painful, it's absolutely heartbreaking. I'm pretty set on eventually getting a meto, because to me it feels more right for my needs (but I completely respect that for others it's not the right choice for them), but the one fear I have is that meto won't allow me to have penetrative intercourse. Gah!

i hope it does cos otherwise we're stuck with a peice of plastic for the rest of our lives. don't even care (much) what size it ends up as long as i can do something with it. and yes i've got the phantom as well
