I am a DDD and took T WAY before I plan to have surgery. I pass 100% and it looks a lot better than it did when I first started binding. It should be fine.

It seems to me that many guys take T before they have top surgery.  Many guys go on T years before top surgery for many reasons.  The most common reason I've heard for that is for financial reasons.

As for the question, yes I have "considered" taking T before having top surgery, but with my personal situation, it is more feasable to have top surgery done before I go on T.  You just have to weigh in your options for your situation to see what will work best for you.

Most guys start hormones before surgery, although I've run into a few who did it the other way around. Doubtless there are guys who opt for one and not the other, too.

I have a large chest myself, but using a full body binder from Underworks works for me (forget the number). Personally, I didnt want top surgery until I had a good amount of time on T to build up the pec muscles. That way when I do get surgery, I already have the pecs for them to better sculpt rather than any guess work that could get screwey and asymmetrical if I later built up muscle. This is important for me but it all depends on the person. I'm a bit of a fitness freak and I want to have a good overall toned look (not buff) and for me it's important that my chest fits this as well as possible. So spending up to a year on T was my decision. This is a chest I'll have for life. I've dealt with these lumps for 28 years, I can wait a little longer to help ensure a result I personally would prefer.

Have you been binding at all? Once you start, things start to loosen up and they become far easier to manipulate and make look flatter. Really doesn't take long for this to happen either. I'm a DD (may be less now but haven't checked) and I can flatten them enough to pass in button shirts, polos and even some tees. I'm 30 inch waist and size medium (sometimes small) in shirts so DD is really out of proportion for me but a good fitting binder can make all the difference!.

I've heard of both.  Some have surgery first, some start T first.  The FtMs I know in person started T first because it's a less expensive first step.  Even if I'd had the money at the time, I'd still have started T first in order to help me develop muscle tone under my breasts.  I've heard it helps the surgeon to define your chest to your shape better if there's muscle to guide them.

I started T first. That's the way most guys do it.

I am one of guys who had top surgery before going on T.
I think it is common that guys get top surgery as first step in transition.

Where I live, you don't really have a choice. It's T before top surgery because of the strict guidelines we have to follow so I think it's pretty common.
