Title: Dr Graham L. Peveller / UK / HRT
Post by: txwnl on September 10, 2013, 05:26:20 AM
Hi there,

I've been looking around at private treatment since the NHS seems to be a bit backward when it comes to gender dysphoria (especially the whole part about RLE before hormones?). I found Dr Graham L. Peveller online and I was curious since he's got a mixture of reviews online, also has anyone had any luck getting onto HRT with one of his letters?

I did a quick google search and looks like he is some kind of online therapist or psychologist?

Anyway unless he is able to prescribe personally he is not going to be able to help you much even if he thinks you should be on HRT. So you need to find that out or you might end up wasting your money. There are private doctors that specialise in this stuff though and who will actually see you in person and prescribe as well. Why not look more towards them?

Apparently he can write the recommendation letter for HRT, which you then give to an endo

Yes but if it is an NHS endo then I might imagine that their hands would be tied by the NHS systems. You maybe end up needing to pay a private endo as well.

I am from the UK and have gone private since the NHS sucks, I am seeing a guy who diagnoses and prescribes too.

I got my letters from him. I know he can do it in the UK but I'm not sure how it works on the NHS. That's something you'd have to ask him about. I know he's got mixed reviews but I thought he was great. I liked him. For someone uncomfortable with face-to-face therapy (particularly about trans issues), it was ideal for me.

Yeah, I thought I'd probably have to go private for endo. How often do you have to see them?

For the endo? I'm in the US (not sure if it's different in the UK) and about once every 6 months for me. (I just see a primary care physician; don't have a separate endo). It may be more frequent when they're just starting you out. But it depends on the physician and your individual needs I'm sure. If you already have a primary care physician you feel comfortable coming out to, maybe you can see if they'll prescribe it.
