Title: Orchiectomy cost and prerequisite question
Post by: Tatyana on September 23, 2013, 08:36:19 PM
What does an orchiectomy cost and what are all the prerequisites one must have?  Also I have read that a MTF sex change cost $3000-100,000.  That quite a cost range.  What would one get for $3000?

Not sure where you got the 100,000 price from... Most of the better US or Canada surgeons are around $19,000 for the single stage inversion GRS. Now for the FTM its around $50,000-$70,000 for there Phalloplasty but thats because of multi-surgeries.

Orchies are around $3-5,000 and most just need 1 letter.

$1500 is doable.  Is there any way to get a letter over the internet?

If you have an online therapist probably.

Just being the normal version of myself here but: DON'T RUSH THIS!!! They're inexpensive but very irreversible. You want to get your two letters before even going shopping for the surgeon. I'm just sayin. This isn't playing with fire, it's much more dangerous than that.

Oh believe me this has been an on going issue for me.  I didn't wake yesterday and suddenly decide I'm a transexual.  I've been living and working as female since I turned 18.  That was 6 years ago.  I pass easy so I haven't been to aggressive about hormones and SRS but now I'm taking estrogen and the nuts need to go.

That's it?!?!? Is that in US dollars? At that price I might just do it.

Yes.  Dr. Tuan A. Nguyen (http://www.lakeoswegoplasticsurgery.com/) in Lake Oswego OR.

Ten years ago I had mine done in Portland, Oregon at Providence Medical center for $700, those were the days when the dollar was worth more so current prices are relative. I have an accurate but rather humorous commentary I wrote about my procedure, anyone interested can PM me and I'll copy it to them. It's not a big scary thing and anyone seriously considering HRT for life may as well have it done if SRS is not within reach financially or otherwise.

I had mine done 6 years ago and it was the best choice for me not having to take all the antiandrogens. If you do not want SRS like myself then your male parts just fade away I do not even have to tuck and can wear just about anything I want.

Fade away? Does that mean it shrinks down to almost nothing? Or do you mean they fade away from your psyche?

Once the male hard drive is removed the penis eventually atrophies considerably. If it wasn't a big fella in the first place, it becomes a little PP like that of a six year old sometimes even drawing it's little head inside like a turtle. If you're wearing jeans you will likely still want to sit to pee to avoid having an accident in your hand and all over the front of your pants. TMI huh? Oh well, best way to describe it is tell it like it is.

I appreciate it :) And that happens on AAs only or just after orchiectomy?

How does that affect GRS? I'd be glad for it, but I'm not decided on that operation. I'm not young, though... and I'm ok with my genitals - just want the erections to stop... but I'm really not very big to begin with (not tiny, still... small - I can give numbers ;))

I read some surgeons don't like people to have orchi's before having GRS/SRS(it is part of it) something to do with having less to work with. I doubt I will ever be able to afford GRS/SRS but I don't just want an orchi either because if I get a partner(as if that will happen) I will want to be comfortable if she wants um ahem get personal.

I'm married, had my orchi over ten years ago. Since my female secondary characteristics are about as developed as they will get and I'm only on a maintenance level estrogen I use a little T cream just behind where the "boys" used to reside along with a little blue pill on "date morning" because I'm just older then dirt at seventy but junior rises to meet the need very nicely. I should rename him "Phoenix!" Just want you to know that it's do-able, never say never! :D ;D

I forgot I said that.  But it's true they need to go even though they are very small fortunately.

They do get in the way. lol  Especially in very tight pants.

For a long time one of mine used to ascend back up into the body cavity. I thought it was kind of funny. I'd push in and "ploop" down it would go. I should have left it up there. Ever since I had a vasectomy that one's often sore.

I won't miss them when they are gone. Would be nice if you could keep them in a jar though. lol  I could wave at them every now and then.
