Title: Introduction from Philly
Post by: MugwortPsychonaut on September 29, 2013, 01:09:42 PM
Hey everybody! I've been reading this forum for a little while, looking for tips here and there. So now I'd like to introduce myself.

I considered transitioning last year, but at some point my confidence with it was shaken. So I brushed it aside. The feelings, however, wouldn't go away. I'm sure most of you can relate. I spent the past year trying to find the answer with psychedelic drugs. Usually that works for me, but in this case, I couldn't find anything.

For my birthday, my girlfriend bought me a bunch of girly stuff: makeup, socks, nail polish, and a really nice wig, amongst other fabulous things. The wig is exactly how I've wanted my hair to be since I was a kid. Once I put it on, got all girled-up, and saw myself in the mirror, it just made sense. It made too much sense to ignore.

Combine that with listening to Bailey Jay's seven-questions interview on WeHappyTrans, and now I have the confidence to know what I'm doing is right. I had my first meeting with a wonderful gender specialist last week, and I'll be seeing her again in a couple of days.

I've been telling my friends, and they've all been wonderful and supportive. I also just came out to my mom a few days ago. It's a lot of news for her to digest, but she told me that no matter what, she loves me.

I have some more new things in my life I'd like to talk about, but this introduction is enough for now.

Welcome MugwortPsychonaut,

As someone born and lived most of my life in the Keystone State i am glad things are coming together for you. This path you are going to walk is going to be a life changing event. Stay true to youself always.

Not sure if you knew about The Papillon Center, they offer many services that might help you move forward. Also there is The Philadelphia Center For Transgender Surgery, this is where i had my BA done. Also the PDOT DMV now has a way to change your gender on your DL with just a letter from your therapist SRS is no longer needed.

I wish you a safe passage on this path you are walking in life.
Hugs
Izzy

Thanks, everybody! And Marie, cheesesteaks don't make South Philly smell this way; that's dog poop!

On a related note, I attended yesterday's SlutWalk. Walking home from the subway, I narrowly avoided stepping in a steaming pile of dog poop. Welcome home!
