I just had three back-to-back-to-back trips, and out of the four times I had to go through airport security I only had trouble the very last time. While going through security at the Boston Logan airport (this was last Friday), I handed my ID and boarding passes to the TSA agent at the initial podium. He reads over everything, then looks at me. Then he looked back to my ID... Back to me... Back to the ID. At this point I realized that he is really confused, so I put on a smile and say "I hear I've changed a bit". He laughed and said "a BIT?" then shook his head, wished me a good flight, and waved me through.
I should have a new ID by the next time I fly :)
My encounter both in California and in New Jersey went fine. Since I use a cane, they moved me to a fast line which was nice, then the scan of my ticket (and me of course) no problems or strange looks.
It made me happy.
Lol! I had an experience with the TSA a few months ago, and mine too was positive. I think we tend to fear the worst, but most of them seem to be decent people just trying to do their job.

I agree. Going into everything, I had no idea what to expect but not having any problems (even with mismatched id and appearance) made everything much, much easier.
