Title: Came out to my mom ans sister this weekend
Post by: odysseus513 on October 07, 2013, 11:45:11 AM
So other than my therapisy and support group ive never told anyone. Called my mom, completly froze, she basically yanked it out of me. Expecting the worst, I was floored when responded back "so thats what its always been, that makes a lot of sense." Guess I didn't do near as well a job hiding it as I thought. She is totally supportive. Woke up the next morning and called my sister. She actually told me its about time I figured it out, and she is excited about it. Excited :-)! WOW did I misread how that was going to go. Needless to say, thrilled doesn't even come close to how I feel. Thank you to everyone here. No way I would have had the courage without reading all your stories.

Thats very good indeed. Enjoy it.

I remember feeling when some of my friends and family were OK about things (sadly not my parents). It is especially nice when people say that they knew already. :-)

I think that mothers always have a glimpse of what is the true nature of their son.

I speak about MtF, I don't know the dynamics for FtMs with their mothers, it may
be different, but the bonding between mother and male (so to speak) son is
very particular and it is not easily broken, not even with a coming out.

Well... but I speak for myself: I have not come to my mother yet  ::)
but I know she will understand... maybe after some fear...  :-\

Congrats! It's so hard to tell anyone and the first 3 people I told (my wife and my parents) are still messed up about it. Everyone else I've told (about 10 people or so) have been either good or even 3 wonderful supporters. One person my wife told (a mutual friend of ours) is another supporter. Those are the people you need to nuture in your new life!

My parents too. I just sent them a letter because of how poorly they treated me on Saturday. My outlook is not so good with them.

I only had one person say he knew it was something (he thought gay or something)... but he's very gender stereotyped - masculine, sports type... so my alternative activities were always weird to him :p - I was of those introverted hide everything types. Nobody knew.
