Title: Uncle coming to visit
Post by: Joe. on October 12, 2013, 05:50:20 PM
I know a lot of cisgirls when they have their period call it their 'Aunt visiting'. I was thinking about this and I needed a way to feel comfortable when thinking about my period, and rather than calling it my 'Aunt coming to visit', call it my 'Uncle coming to visit'. Just changing that one word to the masculine version helped massively and referring to it in my mind as that annoying Uncle who comes to stay, it's helped me more mentally. I'm not sure if it will help others who have known it as their 'Aunt visiting' but I thought I would share it just in case it does help someone.  :)

Nice one Joey.  Personally I'll stick to "Aunt" but I find Uncle to be very creative. :)

And I thought this was going to be a post about an uncle that's really coming to visit lol!

That's fair enough, I like hearing about people's different references to it and how they cope with calling it something.

Haha, I never know what to put for post titles so it ends up being something random and completely not what people think it's going to be about.

I always called the event of the red tide because the bleeding was so very heavy and it lasted a long time. It was more like a tidal flow of red and pain.

I used to call it "Voldemort" because I could never stomach saying the name of it, and "he-must-not-be-named" and all that.

Now I say I'm "laying" because eggs and chickens.

I think that's pretty creative :)

I always hated the words "period", "menstrual" or "menses".  I always called it my "personal" - took some of the edge off.

I've called it werewolfweek and said I was attacked by an alien :p A bit silly but I've found that laughing about it helps me out. Plus werewolfweek makes people wonder if it's full moon.
